Vehicle Detail

Barn find.!! Well sort of, read on. Reserve price. My reserve is very low to attract purchasers. Somewhere near half of what it will bring. I will continue adding pictures on Saturday as well. This is a 225 slant six with 3 on the tree. 25000 actual miles? The last two owners drove it less than 7000 miles between them. That was over a period of 20 years. The other owner or owners? I don't know how to contact them. The fellow I bought it from used it little. He did not use it at all for the last ten years. He was not sure one way or the other on milage. He said it easily could be original. My opion is similar except,.. I do know he put new wheel cylinders on it. That alone make me have to say could be "either way on milage." 25 or 125,000? I have no way of telling. When I found it it was outside yet well covered by a jacked up 12 foot camper.!! The large camper was not sitting onto the truck weight wise. The camper however gave it incredible shelter. Right away this truck drove out as if it was a dealer demonstrater back in 1962. Tight and easy steering, snug clutch and brake pedals. Tight and smooth to shift the colum shift 3 speed. No wandering on steering. It has excellent brakes and shocks. (When last owner found the wheel clyinder leaking he elected that while he had the wheels off he may as well put on new brake shoes.) This pickup has excellent radial tires and I estimate 70 percent tread remaining. Here is what I found which all worked properly after I cleaned the gas tank, new spark plugs, points, cap, and an oil change. Everything worked the same as it would have worked when dealer still had it in 62. all lights, turn signals, guages speedo. It immediately made me think some very positive thoughts. Body wise it had minor needs, I took some pictures before I primed it so you could see before and after. Minor dents and all... Right rear fewnder had a creased type of dent. It popped out easily, but was going to be difficult to get perfection without some quality body bondo. The original hood could have been fixed but I obtained a straighter one that had only one small dent. Thus less time involved to make it straight. This truck is located in the very dry desert area of Washinton State. Year in and year out, we actually gets less annual rainfall than Phoenix Az. We do not use salt on roads and therefore we have a minimal amount of rust on our vehicles. This one has a rocker that was in need of fibreglassing in the rearmost part. That has been done. I removed rubber mats and found the right side cab "well hole" for the bolt in excellent condition but noticed the left one had trapped moisture and had caused it to rust. We put on por 15 and glassed it to last far into the future. By the way, when and if, needed the floor pan inserts are available to purchase aftermarket. Vintage Dodge trucks are becoming more and more popular and this one is an outstanding find. I have found the price of shipping to be 750.00 to transport a shorty all the way from Washington to Dallas Texas. I can help purchaser find a shipper. Seller will deliver to the shipping agent of purchasers choice insofar as local to seller at no handling charge. Tri cities is blessed with several shippers. Driving it home is fine with me also. gl On Oct-08-10 at 16:37:05 PDT, seller added the following information: I had previously mentioned it was an exceptional truck with only one dent of any significance located on right rear. The only other mending was minor and we just those few very lightly. Here is a link to the repair pictures exposing what a fine speciman we started with. Click here if live,.. copy and paste. http://www.picturetrail.com/gid23525849On Oct-10-10 at 02:44:29 PDT, seller added the following information: I have had no inquries from any of the bidders as to a poly. I thought I should offer to sell to the new owner a poly engine to take home with the truck at a modest price. It appears bidders have not been interested thus far. The slant six purrs like a keitten and does not need backup. However if purchaser should want to later on install a V/8 I do have a good running poly 318. (unknown miles) Modest extra cost and I would do a "buy it now on ebay" for them. Email seller if interested. Reserve Met on this truck ? Not yet, but it is low and of this writing is only 25.00 away.!! On Oct-14-10 at 11:02:51 PDT, seller added the following information: I have phone calls and email asking some questions. I share these thorough answers with you below. Question. Are there replacement mini rocker panels available if one wants all metal? Absolutely, The entire area is not rusted, just the area exposed externally. (caused from rainfall dripping from shelter of 10 years.) Notice the picture showing integrity in steps and floor pans. The replacement panel is easily replaced and costs about 35.00. I am not sure that is still made. The ones which includes the step wall is 58.00 (still available) but if you buy this style you would cut off the step portion (not needed) and end up with the piece needed to go underneath and do the ez weld. Time for welding when done this way is estimated at one hour per side. They come primed and ready for paint That would make this truck into one of the best anywhere. ! Truck is very pristine and is not a rust bucket. Question. Does it have an oil bath air cleaner. Yes, I took it off to rebuild carburetor. It is now back on! BTW,.. Have you seen the last 7 or eight pictures recently added? Question. Why is that oil pressure gauge under hood? I used it to pre oil the engine prior to first start. It has been removed. Pressure is excellent. Also the idiot light worked and is still working along with "everything else". Yes, everything.!! Question. Did you keep the rubber floor mat pieces which you cut in order to show the floor integrity? . Yes rubber cut is intact, and will be on as floor covering at delivery. Folks, this is a rare year model and is quite the truck. This truck should bring 3500.00. Granted it may not due to my starting with such a low reserve. Nicely optioned. Runs super. Nearly new battery. Absolutely ready to drive after transfer into your name and plates. Clear title in hand. Ready to daily drive. Low miles. On Oct-14-10 at 16:33:02 PDT, seller added the following information: LAST MINUTE INFO ON A BIDDER> I had to boot a bidder as he only had one transaction with ebay. SCAM? NOPE? MY BAD ------ HE GOOD LOL He contacted me and is now going to bid. I have no problem at all with this person of 1 ebay transaction. He has now entered one bid. I now have referances and referrals from him. No scam just very little ebay useage. g
