Vehicle Detail
I am selling my MGA. This car is beautiful, it turns heads everywhere it goes. I have just gotten the car back from the shop where it was given everything it needed. It got an extensive tune-up with cleaned carbs, fuel tank, lines, hydraulic and brake lines bled. I replaced the grille and both bumpers and over-riders. The old ones are with the car. All four wheel cylinders were replaced, and the car got new wheels and tires. The tires are unused (100 miles past two weeks) new old stock Goodyear gold seal tires. These are the correct stock tires for the MGA from new. This car runs amazingly well. I drove it over one hundred miles last weekend, and it was a complete joy. This is what I know about the history of the car: I bought it from a fellow who had restored it with his late father. It was previously his father's car. his father started a bodyshop in the 60's and had grown it to a reputable business by the early 90s when they restored the car. They closed down the body shop for the year and spent all their time restoring this car together. They did everything meticulously and with great care. There is NO rust on the car what-so-ever, nor is there ANY bondo anywhere. The bodywork was done incredibly proficiently. A close look at the pinch welds between the inner and outer rockers and at the bottoms of the fenders reveal a masterful job. The frame was blasted and coated and still looks very clean underneath, understandably because the car only covered 1400 miles (including about 150 from me) following the restoration before it was put in storage. I have just given the car everything it needs to be a reliable driver with no expenses spared. The paint is a dark metallic green that really fits the car wonderfully. I am NOT a fan of metallic paint on these cars, but I can honestly say this color is the exception, it looks wonderful and a very natural fit for the car. Paint is still in very good condition with just a few small imperfections, the only noticeable one is photographed (a quarter sized dent on the front fender). The covered dash is not original but looks very handsome with the matching quilted black seats. Looks like a period sports racer. The whole interior is very reminiscent of the interior of a 289 cobra. Very striking. There are two things wrong with the car. The first is that the electrical wiring for the brake lights and the directionals are messed up. I believe the brake light switch is just broken and needs to be replaced and that the directionals are just wired to the wrong lights in the rear, I believe the switch is fine. The second issue is the transmission, although it shifts smoothly and does not make any noise in gear does sometimes chirp a bit going into second. Very minor, but I mention it for the sake of having an honest ad. This is a no-reserve auction so please bid to own! This is a gorgeous example of an iconic car and is a true joy to drive. I can be reached on my cell-phone at 401-965-6150. The car is located in Appleton, Wisconsin and can be arranged to be seen. I do have the car listed locally and reserve the right to end the auction early.
