THIS IS IT - THE MINT SPECIAL EDITION SWEDISH MARKET SILVER JUBILEE! This gem is original and complete with all her records and original owner’s paperwork & manual, in Swedish, intact. This Special Edition SAAB was purchased new in 1975 by a woman who owned it until she passed away in 2000. A former SAAB dealership mechanic in Boras, Sweden who remembered the woman purchasing it new in 1975, purchased and restored the handsome lady to her absolute former glory. I had attended the 1st International Finnish SAAB Festival, as well as Annual Festival in Trollhattan, Sweden in 2001. While I currently owned a 1967 SAAB Sonett 2 (#218) and was driving a 1997 SAAB 9000 Aero 5 speed (Which I still currently own), I was inspired to purchase the model 96 after attending both Scandinavian festivals. I was fortunate enough to purchase the 1975 Silver Edition in September of 2001 from the SAAB mechanic who had so lovingly restored her, and had her shipped to the USA. This beauty is the winner in its class at the 2002 SAAB Owners Convention Concours. Detail of Restoration The SAAB was stripped down to bare metal, repaired, sanded, and finished in the original Silver Jubilee SAAB color. This paint job on the smooth perfectly refinished body is beyond stunning! The undercarriage and wheel wells were given a protective coating true to factory new. New soccer ball wheels were installed and new SAAB stripes & logos were applied true to the Special Silver Jubilee Edition. The gear box was rebuilt by a gentleman who worked at the SAAB Transmission plant in Gothenburg, Sweden. This vehicle has a new SAAB clutch disc and one of the last SAAB factory 96 installed exhaust systems. The brake lines are stainless steel and German high intensity headlight bulbs have been installed. The engine has been rebuilt to perfection. As well, a pertronics electronic ignition and an original radiator re-cord for the North American climate have been installed. Used on the SAAB: 1. Castrol GTX oil for engine 2. ATE Super Blue Racing Fluid for brakes 3. Shell Rotella ELC Coolant 4. Wurth HHS 2000 at all hinges and points New SAAB logo mud-flaps and new engine parts stickers have been installed. This special edition SAAB furthermore comes with a brand new set of unused Nokian Rollsters, a new spare windshield, NOS Ford carburetor, and shocks. The SAAB’s interior was reinstalled in original perfect condition, without a single blemish. This rare and very special SAAB has been treated like a princess – Having been covered and the rain avoided at all cost. A marvelous car to drive and extremely fuel efficient, this gem makes people smile and wave! She has truly been a joy and I am sorry to have to let her go.
