Vehicle Detail

This auction is for a 1957 Mercedes-Benz W-180 220s Ponton coupe restoration project. This is NOT a running vehicle, but it would be a great project to restore, Over the couple years I have had this I checked eBay once in awhile for parts and there is always a ton of them coming on and off of auctions. I had originally bought this to set it on a Chevy S-10 4.3 ltr frame, the long bed trucks have the same wheel base. Anyhow hospital bills have taken that thought away so I'm selling it in hope someone else with the time and money can restore it. When I bought it the engine was already torn down and on the back floorboard and in the trunk.... it still is, I don't know what happened to the engine but most of the pistons are shattered, If someone was going to restore this back to Original condition I would just find another engine in a wrecking yard for it, from what I understand the bolt pattern on the engines remained the same for years so it shouldn't be a problem to find another. I would say this car is over 97% complete, I don't see anything that is missing, but as I said I didn't pull the engine apart so I'm giving it a 97% based on that. I have no title for it so this would be a "Bill of Sale" only auction. The body is solid, the glass is all there with no cracks, the dash needs to be sanded and clear-coated, the wood window trim sucks, the upholstery needs redone, the bumpers and some of the other chrome need to be re-chromed, the front grill needs attention. It is the responsibility of the auction winner to arrange and pay for the shipping of the vehicle at the end of the auction, It will have to be put on a trailer. $200.00 Deposit Via PayPal at the end of the auction. Balance to be paid in cash when car is picked up. Below is some print I got from the internet: The Mercedes-Benz W180 is a 6-cylinder sedan, coupé, and convertible made from 1954 to 1959. The models associated with the W180 chassis code were the 220a and 220S. The W180 was one in a series of Mercedes-Benz models to informally receive the "Ponton" nickname. This was in reference to the, pontoon-shaped exterior styling. The 220a was succeeded in March, 1956 by the 220S, which was externally almost identical, except for an additional chrome strip running along the front fenders and doors, but had an upgraded version of the 2.2L inline-six (100 PS (74 kW; 99 hp), later 106 PS (78 kW; 105 hp).
