Vehicle Detail

This a beautiful and rare 1988 Buick Reatta luxury sport coupe! It is in exceptionally clean condition for its age and miles, and it has had much restoration done over the last few years. The car runs and drives very well, and it has a very attractive overall appearance. I have been approached by many strangers when in the car who have said, "Wow! What kind of car is that!". I had always thought the Reatta was one of the most beautiful cars ever designed, so I bought this car about two years ago with the intent to further restore it and enjoy it for several years. After doing some restoration and repair on the car, I loaned it to my unemployed son for about a year to drive. Upon his return of the car, I have decided to sell it due to the uncertain state of the economy and having less time and money to put into the restoration. My loss is your gain - I have much more money invested in the car than I am asking for it! The Reatta is powered by the very robust and reliable GM 3.8 liter V-6 engine. This engine has been around for decades and is still in production. Parts are easy to get and relatively inexpensive. The engine and transmission in this car are well-known and can be serviced almost anywhere. Not that this car needs any mechanical service - although the car has a little less than 230K miles on it, the engine and transmission were completely rebuilt at 175K miles. As I said, the car runs and drives great, and does not burn oil or leak fluids excessively. In addition, the body is in great shape, with no serious rust problems. The only area I could find with any kind of rust issue was at the front of the left rear wheel well. There is a slight amount of bubbling of the paint in a small area at this location. Here is a partial list of new items that have been replaced in the car by myself or the previous owner over the past few years: New seat upholstery New headliner & sun visor coverings New carpeting New power seat motors New window regulator motors New headlight motors New brakes all around New struts all around New alternator about 3 years ago. New mass airflow sensor ($400 about a 2 months ago) New paint job (about 4 years ago; still looks great!) New fuel pump about 3 years ago New custom aluminum alloy wheels New fiberglas spoiler on trunk lid As I said, this is only a partial list of parts that have been replaced in this car. Many, many other smaller parts have been replaced as well. In addition I purchased a complete GM dealer's workshop manual which will go with the car. Although this car is in very good shape, it is not yet fully restored. The following items still need attention: Air conditioning not working - slow leak in system, but compressor worked fine. Note: the system has not yet been converted to R-134 refrigerant. Windshield has a small crack on the lower portion of the driver's side. The crack is stopped, and it is well below the driver's line of sight. In addition, there is a small "spider's web" of cracks at the lower corner on the driver's side. The stock radio and cassette tape player do not work. The previous owner had installed an aftermarket receiver, which I removed, but the new custom speakers are still in place in the car. The touch-screen CRT (which works fine) shows an engine control fault right after start-up. I have not yet had this fault diagnosed, because the car has always run so well even with this fault! The pass-through door between the trunk and the passenger area is missing. I have a source for replacing this part, but he has thus far not been able to locate a door in the right upholstery color. The gas struts that hold up the hood are both very weak, so I have been propping the hood up with a wooden stick for safety. The emergency hand brake on the car does not work. The tires have a good amount of tread on them, but they are age-cracked from being in storage for several years before I bought the car. There are a also a number of minor blemishes in this car which are typical of a car of this age. But overall, the car looks great, and is a pleasure to drive. I welcome anyone who is interested to contact me to come & see and drive this car! If you are seriously considering purchasing the car, you are welcome to take it to any local mechanic to have it inspected! Please note that I am selling this car with NO RESERVE and with a VERY LOW STARTING BID. I must sell this car, and it WILL SELL to the highest bidder. The prospective buyer is encouraged to ask any questions they have about this car, and I will answer them promptly, openly, and as completely as I am able. I will take additional photos of any areas of the car that are in question. I will be completely open and above-board about this vehicle, so the prospective buyer is encouraged to thoroughly investigate this vehicle before bidding. Upon the closing of the auction, the sale is final, and the vehicle is sold with NO WARRANTY, either expressed or implied.
