Vehicle Detail
A 1948 Packard Custom Super 8 - Packard's top of the line, most expensive car for that year, with the biggest engine, the 356 straight 8, and the freeway friendly 3 speed manual with overdrive! Offered by the Vault Classic Cars, with many more photos than Ebay will host at WWW.VAULTCARS.COM or contact us at 714-401-1047. Overseas customers are welcome to buy! This car was sold new to the Mayor of Delano, California, in the dry Central valley. It went through at least one other owner until it was acquired by Howard Taylor of Glendale, CA, then later of Prescott, AZ. Howard completed the restoration in time to make the cover of the Spring, 1985 Packard Magazine. He did a great job on this car - a high quality acrylic enamel paint job over lovely straight, rust-free sheetmetal, and a wonderful wool broadcloth interior! He and his wife toured extensively, and they were very careful about maintenance, so this car that was restored almost 30 years ago still looks great, and more importantly, still runs great! It is equipped with: 356 cubic inch straight 8, with engine # G6 3 speed manual transmission with overdrive - works perfectly every time Near new Diamondback Radial whitewalls Beautiful Wool broadcloth interior Lovely woodgrained dashboard rebuilt front suspension- the car drives like a new one! Radio Roof antenna All Custom 8 special items -356 engine, Front to back headliner, crosshatch grille, trunk trim, and crosshatch rear valence panel trim, Cloisonne hubcaps, and special interior trim & seats. Heater Vacuum wipers that work vigorously! Ampco upper cylinder lubricator Recently redone clutch - silky smooth All lights, turn signals, courtesy lights work great. This is a beautiful car! It's not a tip top show car, but it's in excellent condition! Flaws to note are: There's a scratch on the right rear door - touched up and polished, but still there, and some stone chips here and there. The radio isn't working now, nor is the gas gauge. The temp guage has been superceded by a modern unit. The driver's and passenger door woodgraining is worn where you would rest your arm. The rear hubcaps have a couple of scuffs. The steering wheel is original, and has some cracks, which is why there is a wheel wrapper. I can't emphasize enough how nicely this car drives - It is tight, solid, no rattles or clunks or odd noises - just the powerful, soft, smooth quiet operation that the Packard factory put in it when it was new! And, it looks beautiful and correct! It's a lovely car, owned by someone who really cared about it! THERE IS NO COOLING OFF PERIOD UNLESS YOU OBTAIN A CONTRACT CANCELLATION OPTION. California law does not provide for a "cooling off" period for vehicle lease or purchase contracts. Therefore, you cannot later cancel such a contract simply because you change your mind, decide the vehicle costs too much, or wish you had acquired a different vehicle. After you sign a motor vehicle purchase or lease contract, it may only be cancelled with the agreement of the seller or lessor or for legal cause, such as fraud. However, California law does require the seller to offer a 2 day contract cancellation option on used vehicles with a purchase price of less than $40,000, subject to certain statutory conditions. See the vehicle contract cancellation option agreement for details. The prospective purchaser of a vehicle may, at his or her own expense and with the approval of the dealer, have the vehicle inspected by an independent third party either on or off the dealership premises.
