Vehicle Detail

Welcome and thanks for checking out my auction ! Up for bids today is my 1977 Chevrolet Camaro. I have owned this car for a couple of years now, and bought it as a project, but have just not had the time or money to give it the love that it deserves. I bought the vehicle a couple of years ago from a fellow who lives here in town who is a car collector / car trader type of guy. I have absolutely no idea about the history of the car prior to the time that I have owned it. I have clear title to this vehicle, with title actually in hand ready to sign over to the lucky new owner. Please be sure to read the entire listing carefully, as hopefully it will answer most questions that might come up and I want to try to avoid any misunderstandings or misinterpretations. So, here's the descriptors for the car: The odometer indicates 72,031 miles, but no idea if the vehicle has just these miles, or 172,031, 272,031, etc. The body is in fairly rough shape, with some hail damage over most of the body. There is quite a bit of rust below the back bumper. Paint is chipped behind the rear wheels, and there is a small amount of rust at the lower quarters behind the rear wheel, as is expected for a vehicle of this type and age. The paint is rough over the entire exterior of the vehicle. The hood is not, of course, original to the vehicle. The original hood has been lost to time, and the one currently on the vehicle is a replacement that I purchased from a junked Camaro. Chome on the back panel between the taillights is in fairly rough shape. Bumpers are intact but could use some polishing. The rubber strip on the front bumper is loose. There is some misalignment of the rear of the front quarters and the front of the doors. The engine in the vehicle is not original. The currently installed engine is a recently rebuilt 305, instead of the 350 which was originally in the car. Through researching the numbers on the block when the engine was torn apart, it apparently came from a 1979 Chevy truck. During the overhaul mostly stock parts were put back into the engine, but a slightly more aggressive camshaft was installed. As far as I am aware, some timing adjustment still needs to be done to the engine, but otherwise it is ready to go. Headers are installed, though no more of the exhaust system is on or available to go with the car. Accessories, gaskets, etc. that came with the headers will be included with the sale. The rest of the exhaust system did not come when I bought the vehicle. Chrome valve covers, air filter and a few other chrome accessories were installed at the time of the install. A new battery was installed about a year and a half ago, but when I started the vehicle today I had to jump start it, so not sure if the battery is still good. A/C was installed in the car originally, but when the new engine was installed, the A/C system was not reinstalled. The transmission was not touched during the rebuild, but it seems to work fine, other than a pretty good leak. My friend that did the engine rebuild indicated that he thought that we probably had a bad seal or something along that line causing the tranny to leak fluid. Generally if you put in ATF to the full mark, it will be all leaked out within 24 hours. The tires and rims that are on the vehicle currently are borrowed, and as such, I cannot sell them with the car. If you are the lucky winning bidder, please plan to bring tires and rims for the vehicle. I will gladly help you change tires ! The headlights and the front turn signals seem to work, but the taillights and rear turn signals do not. I have not messed with them enough to see if it is a wiring problem or just bad bulbs. The glass is all good on the car, except for a crack in the windshield that runs from the lower driver's side up and then partway across the center of the windshield. It is as good a condition as one might expect in a 30 year old vehicle. The seals around the windows are in rough shape, as one might expect. I have all the chrome trim for the windshield and rear window, but a lot of it is bent up and in somewhat rough shape. The lower front valence and lower grille are in good shape, which is somewhat of a rare occurrence for this type vehicle. I personally removed all the interior trim, headliner, door panels, seats, etc., down to the bare metal inside, except for the dash panel. All interior parts, except the carpet and floor insulation are available. I threw out the carpet and insulation as I felt that they were just to deteriorated to be worth saving. I vaccumed out all of the 30 years of accumulated grime and trash once the carpet and insulation was removed, so the interior is basically down to bare metal as it sits now. Otherwise, the interior is in pretty good condition, with all the normal older Camaro problems, such as the dash padding coming loose behind the windshield. All the gauges, except the gas gauge and the clock work, as do the interior lights, except the dome light ( no bulb, so not sure if it works or not ). When the engine rebuild was completed, my friend that did the rebuild put in an aftermarket oil pressure gauge, but it is not mounted to the dash. As can be seen in the photos there are rust holes in the floor, which are also normal for this type vehicle. Classic Industries ( catalog included with your vehicle purchase ! ) sells new floor pans to remedy this problem, as well as every other part that would be needed in the restoration of this vehicle. The seat fabric on all seats is in very rough shape due to 30 some years of wear and tear. A battery was apparently left on one of the bottom back seat cushions for an extended time and that cushion is pretty rotten. The framework for the seats seems to be in decent shape. One will definitely plan on recovering the seats during a restoration project. Two ( 2 ) build sheets for the car are included. I found the build sheets when removing the interior parts. One was in one of the bottom seat cushions of the back seat, one was in the upper back sheet cushion. Both sheets are in a bit rough shape, as one might expect after they had sat in the back seat cushions for 33 years, but what you can't read on one, you can pretty much read on the other. The vehicle is currently not licensed nor street legal. If you are the lucky winner please plan to bring your trailer to pick up your new Camaro! Unfortunately, I do not have a trailer, so I cannot deliver the vehicle. This vehicle will make someone a great restoration project, with some of the work already done, or will make a decent parts car. This is an 33 year old car. It is not in perfect condition. It has all sorts of things that need to be fixed or replaced. There is no warranty or guarantees of any sort implied or stated. What ya see is what ya get. I have described this vehicle to the very best of my ability. If there is anything that I have missed or anything that you would like to have further details on, please feel free to use the "Ask The Seller A Question" button. Please view the pictures carefully ! Please be aware that this vehicle is also for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction early if the vehicle sells locally. I expect $500 of the final sale price sent via Paypal within 48 hours of the end of the auction. The remaining amount due is to be in cash money ( i.e.: no checks / money orders / cashiers checks, etc. ) at the time that the car is picked up. Remember, that according to eBay rules, winning the eBay auction is a contract to buy, and it is expected that the buyer will follow through with the purchase of the vehicle.
