Definatly a unique find and here is the story!On December 15th 1978 Howe Apparatus closed its doors for the last time. The factory was founded in 1872 in New York by H.J Howe the inventor of a piston type pump for the first horse drawn firefighting equipment in the United States. Operations were moved to Anderson, Indiana in 1917 during World War 1 to mount firefighting equipment on an automobile chassis built by the Lambert Co. , their piston pump was the standard every fire house wanted! Even into the 1970s no other pump could compare. Howe was also one of the original group of companies that started the FAMA (fire apparatus manufacturers association) in 1946, the very same year this truck was built. We believe the miles to be accurate but cant guarantee it at 7611. As you look the truck over carefully it is evident she has had little use. Original interior paint, original Moble Unit Voice Code still on the dash! Still has her Flathead Ford V8 with original piston style pump also in place. It comes with service manual, ladder, hoses, axe, working original siren, spot light and tool kit. Rear water tank replaced with parade benchs and steps to climb up the back. One of the best looking firetrucks ever seen! Absolutely rust free. You need to crawl under this truck or see how well kept it is. Does start, run and drive but does have a miss in the engine.
