Vehicle Detail

The odomoter reads around 82,000 miles. I assume it has gone over 100,000. I do not know the exact actual mileage. The odomoter on old cars like this return to 0 after passing 99,999. This is a daily driver Mustang and is kind of ugly.....bad paint, non original color, and rust. The good news is that it starts and runs every day asked. Either my daughter or myself drove this car daily for 1.75 years (except for days with snow on the ground -- we're in CO) until about 5 months ago. For the past 5 months, it has been driven a couple times a week. The Marti Report shows delivery in Lakewood CO (Denver) with a special order paint color (green -- wt7010 -- looks like a sea green or pale green where the original paint can be seen). It also has power steeing and front power disk brakes. Other than that, it is a plain 302 automatic car. Everything works as far as switches and gauges, but the lever shifting from heat to defrost is obstructed. The heater and fan work and the flap is free, but the lever catches on somthing behind the dash. I leave it on defrost all winter and then get it to the floor after the main part of winter is over. The passenger side courtesy light blows a fuse when I put a buld in it, but the bulb lights up first. The driver side courtesy light works. Both rear quarters are rusted through to the trunk and there is some rust in the pan, doors, and misc spots also. The floor is rusted through on the driver's side. A piece of sheet metal was laid over the hole, under the carpet, by the previous owner. I do not think it was welded in. I believe the hole is smaller than the size of a paper plate. The good part is that it starts every time it is asked to, it runs well, and it stops well. It is a reliable daily driver. Cold morning starts can be difficult, but with a lot of gas and a fair amount of patience, it always starts. Recent work (over the past 2-3 years) includes; new tires, new front end kit, new steering box, new door weatherstripping, reworked window regulators/parts, new drivers side door hinge, new wheel bearings, new water pump and belts and hoses, and other small things here and there. All this work was accomplished so the car could be driven daily as it was. If you want a car you can drive every day and then restore later, this might be it. I put about a quart of oil in every couple months and the car is probably leaking some and burning some. The car is located in CO Springs CO which is about one hour south of Denver. Though I would not be afraid to dive it back and forth to Denver (about 60 miles each way), I don't think I would be comfortable hopping in it and driving cross-country without some mechanic knowledge. I drove it back and forth to Denver on Saturday, 11 Sep, and it ran great. I went 65 - 80 on the road with no problems. It is a 50 year old vehicle and far from perfect. I am sure the carb could use a rebuild and the front disks should be replaced (new ones are in a box in the trunk). Rust in wheel wells goes through to trunk.
