Vehicle Detail

Well, now that summer is over, it's time to clear out the yard a little bit more. This is my wife's truck, bought new by her in 1999. It was 'replaced' in 2008 by her new Ford Escape. She decided not to trade it in, thinking that she might get some more use out of it delivering boxes of T-shirts as part of her business. In practice, though, she usually winds up delegating the delivery job for large orders to me, and I opt to use my F350 instead. So, while the thinking made sense, the F150 winds up sitting in the yard more than it gets used for the past two years. There is not a thing wrong with this truck. Every single thing works as it ought to. It's straight, it's clean and it has a very useful A.R.E. utility cover on the body. Never been in wreck, drives straight, steers right, brakes are good, tires have a lot of life left, AC is cold, heat is hot, wipers wipe, etc. We just do not use it enough, really, and don't need to have *two* trucks. The only thing one *might* find "wrong" at all is a small dent on the trailing edge of the passenger door where it was opened into something somewhere along the line. I have included a close-up photo of the dent, but it is still really hard to see. The truck utility bed cover (or 'cap' as it's sometimes called) was a nod to her need to use the truck for business as well as personal use when she bought it. It has four side-doors where the front doors open into tool boxes where she kept her sales materials (catalogs and the like). The rear side-doors open into the bed, so one can opt to access the rear half of the bed from either side, or the more usual rear, positions. As long as we were at it, I added the ladder rack to the top because, hey, that sometimes comes in handy after all! :) The cab, obviously, is a 'super cab' with the rear 'half doors' to make it easier for folks to get in and out of the back seat. It has the '60/40' split bench seat in the front, which sits like a pair of bucket seats with a center that can be flipped up to seat an extra person. Handy. The truck has power windows and door locks with remote keyless entry, as well as a factory anti-theft system (chipped keys). It has the 4-speed 'EOD' automatic transmission and the 5.4L EFI V8 engine with a 3.55 limited slip differential. There is a sliding rear window for both the truck rear window as well as the 'cap' front window. We only had one serious issue with the truck in the time we've owned it, and that was when the transmission decided to pack it in during the factory warranty period. The local Ford dealer we bought it from replaced the transmission with a new one under warranty, and there has been no further issues on that score. BTW, we've never used it for towing anything, even though it has the usual 4-pin wiring harness. When I need to tow, I use my F350 which is a diesel to boot, so there was never a need to tow anything with the 'little' F-150. I mention this in case someone might think that the original transmission trouble came from towing. That said, the F-150 *can* tow fairly well should the new owner want to, since it has the powerful 5.4L engine. You'd need to install a receiver, though, as it does not have one at this point (only the stock ball hole in the step bumper). We'd like to pass this on to someone that will get more use out of it than we do at this point. We're not going to price it thru the roof, but we're not going to give it away, either. To that end, we're setting the reserve at a very reasonable $3k. I mention this, as it always seems that I get a lot of questions regarding the reserve whenever I set one, so now every one knows up front. :) Not that I mind questions. Not at all. So, if you have any, fire away! Looking at the vehicle report eBay provides, you'll see a 'special use' listed as a 'lease vehicle'. This is us leasing the truck to her business for tax purposes. It was still us using it, not someone else, but once she had her new car it made sense for us to have the business paying for the truck's expenses and so the CPA told us to lease the thing to ourselves as it were. :) One thing I did have to do recently was replace the dash cluster. The original one decided to no longer display the mileage, which is right at 158,500 miles. If one whacked the thing, it sometimes came back on, but a replacement was clearly called for. The new one displays just over 142k miles, so when we fill out the title we'll have to report that the mileage the vehicle shows is not correct any longer. You can see the mileage at the last inspection a couple months ago in the report, so you'll know I'm giving you the mileage as it is (as opposed to what it says in the truck). If someone wishes to come look it over, that is OK, too. I'm here quite often most days and can easily make a point of being here if I know someone is coming over. Farming can be fairly flexible. ;) I'm going to set up a deposit payable via PayPal, and the balance can be by bank check, cash, or even by PayPal. It's up to the winner, but the truck has to be paid for before the title paperwork is done, or the truck leaves the yard. The winner has seven days from the end of the auction to finalize the payment. After that, I'm quite flexible about it being picked up and will gladly work with you in that regard. Depending on the situation, we might even be able to work out a delivery.
