This is a 2000 Volkswagen Passat All Wheel Drive wagon with only 81,000 original miles. The color is a classy Black Magic Pearl Clearcoat, an excellent shade for this model. The paint is reflective and deep, like looking into a pool of water. Our detailer really did a great job bringing up a deep gloss to this finish. As you would expect, there are some signs of 81,000 miles. The hood has stone chips, and there are a few scratches on the doors. The Carfax does indicate a collision in August of 2009. We do not know the extent of the damages, but whatever collision facility did these repairs, did a great job.
The Gray leather interior is beautiful and very luxurious. The leather is in great condition and was just treated with conditioner. A pair of power buckets and center console are up front, with a full bench seat in the 2nd row. The 2nd row folds flat creating a very large cargo area. Rich woodgrain accents the interior, looking very much like another famous German automaker. The climate control is in perfect working order with ice cold air conditioning or blistering heat. A Pioneer audio system looks to have been recently installed and sounds terrific. (original radio is included). All the power accessories are in operating condition except the right rear power window. It appears that the motor/regulator is bad. We will not be repairing this problem. There are no smoke or pet odors in the cabin.
The Passat is powered by a 2.8 30 valve V6 engine backed up by an automatic overdrive transmission powering all four wheels. This is truly an all seasons vehicle, no worries when the snow starts to fly. The engine runs very well and the transmission shifts correctly. We are confident enough in the Passat to include a 3 month/3000 limited powertrain warranty to the purchaser. (sorry, dealers are excluded)
One area that will require attention are the tires. While they are Michelin and Goodyears with between 5/32"-8/32"treadwear remaining, they are dry rotted and unevenly worn. They are mounted upon the sporty factory aluminum wheels that do have a bit of "curb rash".
This Volkswagen did go through our shop for a safety check and service with our tech reporting back with a few issues. The rear hatch would not open, the left front upper control arm was worn (likely accounting for the tire wear), front and rear brake rotors were warped and the air filter was dirty. We replaced the control arm and performed a 4 wheel alignment, replaced all four rotors, replaced the rear hatch actuator assembly and replaced a brake light bulb. As is our policy, we changed the oil/filter and checked all the vital fluids. The only issues left to the new owner will be the window problem and tire replacement.
We have two keys and all the factory owner's literature. We do not have any prior service records.
Kelly Blue Book retail for the Volkswagen Passat AWD wagon is $9460. Our Buy It Now price is much lower and you will get the protection of a warranty. This should be an easy decision if you like this type of vehicle.
