1977 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser FJ 40 Classic Truck 4x4 The FJ40 Land Cruiser has its roots as a military vehicle built to cover challenging grounds. In 1951, its predecessor, the BJ, was observed negotiating the trail up Japan's 12,388-foot-high Mt. Fuji all the way to Checkpoint six (there were, and still are, 10 checkpoints on the trail to the top of Mt. Fuji), further up the mountain than any motor vehicle ever had gone. After seeing the vehicle cruise over the roughest ground they could throw at it, company officials came up with the much more deserving and fitting name: Land Cruiser. In 1975 all Land Cruisers received an enlarged 4.2L (256.3 c.i.) B-series engine and with it, a new four-speed transmission. This engine underscored the Land Cruiser's reputation for unstoppable torque, a critical element that helped provide the Land Cruiser with its ability to crawl over obstacles on challenging trails. Land Cruisers became an established part of rough-country life in the United States. For miners, ranchers and surveyors, the Land Cruiser was the vehicle of choice. In 1971 a Land Cruiser was driven the width of the United States while surveying an off-road route. This carbureted, 4x4, tough, time proven, and no nonsense FJ40 is powered by a 2F 4.2L potent 6-cylinder engine. It is mated to a swift and peppy Four-speed transmission. The top can be removed making it a convertible utility vehicle. It also features a folding windscreen. Has new side mirrors, folding jump seats, New rear seat covers, Roll bar, and New rear seatbelts. AM/FM/Cassette. Tool bag and all lenses have been replaced with new parts, new headliner, new tires, new single stage Acrylic enamel Olive Brown code 653 paint (inside and out), hardtop was reconditioned and received new single stage Shell Ivory paint. Bed liner material was applied to entire floor and under vehicle, new full HD front and back utility floor mat installed! Front seats upholstery and windshield glass needs replacing or recovered due to seams splitting and or cracks. It also has factory Front Disc Brakes. Body bolts, screws replaced with new stainless steel parts. Engine completely rebuilt approx 8000 miles ago. It also has a new HEI distributor eliminating the old points/condenser ignition system. Vehicle can be stored in current location (garaged-insulated) for up to 3 weeks from end of auction. Sale is final at auction end.
