Vehicle Detail
Pro Touring 1970 Chevrolet Super Sport Here is an excellent opportunity to purchase a numerous award winning 1970 ProTouring Super Sport Nova at much less than current market prices for comparable autos. There are numerous pro touring cars for sale that are not built to this standard and cost consideralby more, so Nova aficiondados take note of this beauty. You will not regret it! First, lets start with the base car. This is a documents TRUE Super Sport 1970 Nova. There are numerous Chevrolets out there at car shows that have 'SS' badges all over them, but how many of those actually left the factory that way? This car is one of the few true performance throughbreds' questions often when seeing these 'badges', and I have heard most often asked. "Is this a REAL SS?" The answer I have heard more often is "no", but concerning this particular Nova, the answer will be responding 'yes', and an enthusiastic one at that. The previous owner of this beautiful SS Nova started with a factory optioned SS 350 4 speed car that was in excellent condition. The Nova was purchased with the intension of building the ultimate 70 Nova pro-touring machine, along with the though that this would be the machine the current owner would have and keep for a very long time, hence the top quality of the parts used and the excellent quality of the workmanship. The original factory color of this Nova was Forest Green and the previous owner had the car stripped and painted a silver metallic similar to GM Cortez silver, and this was done in a base coat, clear coat finish. Ghost flames were added to the base coat and are done tastefully. The only bodywork that has been done to this Nova were small GM replacement patch panels installed in the rear quarters at the top of the wheel lip. Looking in the trunk, this repair is completely undetectable and it is obvious that a very high trained professional performed the work. The only other bodywork performed were small areas at the lower front fenders. ( It is obvious that this Nova SS was well cared for in it's life.) The current condition of the paint is excellent with a deep brillant shine, with only a few minor rock chips in the front forward section of the body. The hood on this Nova is a high quality all steel Goodmark unith with a small tasteful cowl induction scoop. All of the chrome and stainless is excellent all near perfect. The chrome is very high quality, showing no defects. The chassis underneath is as nice as the topside on this Nova. Everything is painted and very neat in appearance with only minor dust. The interior in this Super Sport is in excellent condition with little modifications made to the factory look. The factory bucket seat and rear seat are excellent with no flaws to be found and in 'like new' condition', as is the rest of the interior including headliner, carpet, and door paniels. The dash pad is excellent and this Super Sport retains all the factory functional gauges that are also in excellent condition with addition of high quality aftermarket gauages mounted under the dash. A set of aftermarket switches were installled in the lower part of the dash to control the electric fan and ignition and looks to be a professional installation. An aftermarket high quality CD player has been added to the dash in the original location of the factory radio, along with added speakers to the rear package tray, all installled professionally and in excellent working condition. This Nova was ordered from the factory with the rare factory in-dash tachometer and floor console, of which the tachometer is still intact and functional condition (currently unhooked because of aftermrket high quality tach/ignition). The previous owner has a factory console installed with a very nice aftermarket automatic shifter. Since this was an original 4 speed Nova, the previous owner opted to leave the original clutch pedal intact incase a switch back to manual trans was decided on in the future. The mechanicals and suspension in this Nova are spectaculer. It is in these areas that really differentiate ths SS Nova from all the rest. The previous owner spared no expense to transform this Nova into a high horsepower, handling and driving dream car. Any muscle enthusiast, or any performance enthusiast for that matter, would be in a state of euphoria driving this Super Sport. Almost unbelievable torque and power emanating from 540 cubic inches of genuine GM big block reside under the hood. A touch of the gas pedal with any authority what so ever, and you are rocketed forward at an almost alarming rate. It is only through the capable chassis that allows such power to be used with and confidence. The entire front suspension has been replaced with state of the art components from Detriot Speed and Engineering, including the addidtional of a rack and pinion setup, tubular arms, and coil over shocks. A very large chrome anti sway bar keeps body roll to a minimum. All components in the front including the inner fenders, have been powder coated chassis black and have that excellent 'dipped' look to them. The smoother firewall was custom fabricated and powder-coated as well. All welds were ground smooth and re-welded and ground again for a clean finish. All in an effort to 'clean up' the compartment as much as possible. The attention to detail is excellent. The rear suspension was completely rebuilt. A new super-strong 9" rear axle was installedas well as new springs and custom traction bars. The rear axle is horespower of the big block. Runs about 2100 rpm at 65 mph. A stock chassis wouldn't have a chance with all that power. The frames are tied with large tube connectors and welded professionally and nicely painted chassis black. You just can't get detail like this without spending a lot of money and time. There are hundreds of hours of work done to this car's chassis. The engine was a new GM 502 block that has been bored(.030) and stroked 540 cubic inches. The entire rotating assembly is balanced and it carries forged pistons with a pump gas friendly 10.2:1 compression. The engine is full roller with Comp Cam roller lifters and rockers. The cam is a GM unit with .632 lift and .284 duration. It has an Enduro Shine Edelbrock Air Gap intake with an 850 CFM Mighty Demon carburetor and competition ceramic coated Hooker headers. In fact, the entire 3" exhaust system is ceramic coated and has premium flowmaster Super 44's for that bone chilling sound. There is also an electric cutout system installed just before the mufflers. Just a flick of switch inside and you have open headers. Hit the switch again, and it's back to that low flowmaster rumble, a very cool and expensive option. The ignition system is handled by MSD with a 6AL box mounted under the glove box. Total horsepower is estimated at 630 and 520 at the back wheels. All this kept cool with the custom made aluminum radiator and twin electric fans. Run this car all day and it will never see north of 185 degrees. The transmission is a 700R automatic built to withstand over 600hp and 600 ft. pounds of torque and has a 3500 rpm converter with heavy-duty driveshaft and universal joints. There is also a trains fluid temp gauage mounted below the dash so you know exactly what is going on. All in all, a stupendous drive train that you can drive and enjoy all day, yet still have more than enought power at hand to impress anyone! Hauling down all of this power is important, especially when you can obliterate the speed limit at any given notice. All four corners were upgraded with Wilwood disc brakes 12" in front and 10" in the rear, with a dual diaphragm (chrome) 7" brake booster and master cylinder. The front brake lines are hardened stainless and the porportioning valve is mounted to the floor next to the drivers seat. There is also a line lock installed just in case you want to 'clean' off the back tires. A set of 15" chrome Cragar SS wheels (8" rear and 7" front) on a brand new set of Bf Goodrich RTs. This car has won over 90 awards since 2005. Many best of show, many best engine, many best paint, and many first place trophies. The Nova won first place at Super Chevy in 2006 and 2007. To say this Nova is a real head turner is an understatement. The car comes with the original Protecto-Plate and the original "Car Invoice" from the original dealer verifying that it is a true Super Sport, and the "Delivery Report" that the dealer filled out with the original owners name and Vin. The original spare tire is in trunk, it appears it has never been on the groung as it still retains the "markings" on the tread. The rim is the original green also. The car has well over $50,000 invested and countless hours from the previous owner's work. Buyer is responsible for pickup or shipping of this vehicle.
