Vehicle Detail
1959 Pontiac, Catalina Vista Top. The Vista model is a no post hardtop with a "wrap around" rear window for an unobstructed 360 degree view from any seating position. The car has all the original running gear with only 80000 original miles on the clock. It is equipped with the Pontiac 389 C. I. engine coupled to the legendary "Jetaway" transmission. Also has factory power steering for ease in parking. It is very quick off the line due to the low ratio starting low gear. The car has all the pep and power you could want. It operates very well at modern freeway speeds and simply "erases" hills. The car is "show ready" and you could drive it anywhere you like. No power brakes but manual brakes work very well. No AC. This car is a very fun show car and always garners plenty of attention at shows. It has won many awards. The main body paint color is a special color which was created by Pittsburg Paint Company and now has a Pittsburg number. I have a small quantity of the paint in a can for touch up if needed. The color is a shade of pink with a hint of blue blended in which shows very strikengly in bright light or in low light. The top is white. The interior is painted to match the outside. The upholstery is mainly a denim fapric which incoperates a " 50's Rock N Roll" theme in the design and is an exclusive one time pattern. Accents are in white vinyl which is a thick high quality material. The overall theme is accented with poodle dog images here and there inside and also on the fender skirts outside. We always called it the "Poodle Car" and usually display it with a collection of stuffed poodles. These will go to the new owner if wanted. The many trophies will also go with the car if wanted. The title and registration papers are in order, clear and current. I can provide you with collector car insurance information which will provide full coverage at minimal cost. I am selling only because my health has changed and I am no longer able to properly maintain the car. It has remained (for the most part) parked for the last year. I have been to only a couple of very local shows but have driven around the block a few times to keep the battery up and the joints lubed up. It stays stored inside a locked secure garage when not in use. Now for the few defects: (1). The heater core has begun to leak a little, so I bypassed the coolant supply to the heater so there is no heat in the car for now. I have a used good heater core which will go to the new owner. It takes about 3 or 4 hours to replace and is not a difficult job on this car. (2). The windshield has a small amount of white "clouding" in the corners which does not interfere with the view out the front. The side glass has some small heat bubbles at the edges. (3) The front windshield rubber seal has hardened over time and leaks a little from the top in a hard rain. (4) There is a small dent in the rear bumper (left side--see the pictures), but is barely noticable. (5) There are a very few paint defects, but the car is very presentable just as is. Not perfect, but not far off either. Finincial requirements: I am starting with a reserve of 6K which is far less than I paid. I am anxious to sell before the weather turns cold. Please do me the courtesy of not bidding if you do not have the means to complete the deal. I require a deposit of $500.00 into my Paypal account within 5 days of auction close. No exceptions and the deposit is NOT refundable under any condition. The balance is due when you come to take delivery. The balance must be in the form of cash or a good cashier's check or certified check. If a check is tendered it must be confirmed good by my bank (Wells Fargo) on a regular business day before the car can be removed or the title conveyed. NO weekend or holiday transaction will be acceptable. My State requires an "in person" signature in front of a Notary Public and a Notary seal for a title transfer. Expect to spend most of a day here to do the paperwork properly. I expect the transaction to be completed within 30 days of auction end. I will do all I can to assist you in completing the deal. If you drive the car, please provide your own insurance. If you trailer the car, I highly recommend an enclosed trailer for protection. Thanks to all for looking. Don't pass up this opportunity to own a classic at a reasonable price!
