NO RESERVE AUCTION on this "Karmann Edition" '79 VW CONVERTIBLE Runs Super!! (IMPORTANT NOTICE - PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING: My wife and I are selling this car for her brother. In Pleasant Hill, a little farming community a few miles South of Hemingway, S.C.; he is well known for his VW knowledge. Over the past 40 years, the "word has gotten out"; and it has kept him pretty busy on other folks' projects. Unfortunately, it leaves him with almost NO TIME for his own pet projects. That is why the VW you see here is up for auction. We are involved simply because he doesn't have a computer and doesn't surf the web. We will be in direct contact with him to answer any questions or concerns you may have). A SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM THE OWNER: "I put in a lot of time and effort , and it was really looking good and driving super. Since this was to be my DAILY DRIVER, and not a typical "Show Car"; a lot of my emphasis went into making it mechanically sound and road-ready. YOU CAN PLEASE READ BELOW ABOUT THE PARTS AND SPECIAL WORK I DID. I was "riding in class" until a car pulled out in front of me. It did some damage in the front area around the headlight and hood as seen in the pictures, but NO FRAME DAMAGE. I was very disappointed; as I knew then that I could not devote any more time on this car just for my personal use. NOT EVEN ENOUGH TIME JUST TO REPAIR THE DAMAGE YOU SEE IN THE FRONT-END HEADLIGHT AREA. I JUST HAVE TO MANY PROJECTS THAT OTHER PEOPLE ARE WAITING FOR ME TO COMPLETE. Whoever wins this one will ONLY have the obvious frontal repair issue PLUS whatever level they want to take this to as their own special project. There will be NO CONCERNS at all about the "running condition"- just check the tune-up list on this. And there will be NO CONCERNS about a "rusted-out pan" falling through. And NO CONCERNS about aged or worn-out parts (check the list of new parts added). Whoever wins this one will have a great-running little Bug. All known issues will be VISIBLE, or will have been described as honestly and straightforward as possible. If you want a good, solid VW CONVERTIBLE, please strongly consider this one. This is a great value. I have tried to SHOW & LIST all important info that I would want to know if I were buying a VW Beetle; but I am sure there will be other questions, and I more than welcome them". Removed Carburetor for thorough cleaning & reinstalled 6. Adjusted ignition timing 7. Changed oil & cleaned strainer 8. NEW Spark-plug wires 9. NEW Valve Cover gaskets 10. NEW Carburetor Air Filter 11. NEW Fuel Filter 12. NEW Electric Fuel Pump BRIEF DESCRIPTIVE OVERVIEW: THIS VW IS "DRIVEABLE" DURING THE DAY, BUT NOT SAFE FOR NIGHT TIME DUE TO ONE HEADLIGHT BEING OUT. IT FEATURES A 1600 CC ENGINE WITH A 2-BARREL PROGRESSIVE CARBURETOR. THIS CAR HAS NO BODY RUST!! The seats are in good condition with only one hole on the top edge of the driver's seat as seen in the photos. The rear bottom seat will need upholstering. There is one area of the black convertible top right over the back glass, that we magnified in the photo so you could get a good look at it. If you were looking at it with normal vision, it would not be as noticeable. It is sealed and does not leak. There is a small defect in the middle of the front windshield as shown in the photos. The sway bar has been primed and painted black since the photos were taken. Other than these issues, and those shown in the photos; this is a "slick running" vehicle that is loaded with new parts, and will give very dependable and sporty transportation. The winning bidder will make arrangements to pick this up at its location near Hemingway, South Carolina in the Pleasant Hill Community (Georgetown County).
