Vehicle Detail

INTRODUCTION AND DESCRIPTION You are viewing my 1977 Plymouth Fury Sport hardtop coupe. This Fury Sport has its original E64-coded 400-4V “B” Series engine. It also has a rebuilt (non-numbers matching) A727 three speed automatic transmission, and the standard (open) 2.4:1 rear end. It has its original bucket seats and floor console shifter. I bought this car as a project (I was going to put a 1968 440-HP engine I had laying around in it) as it was a complete car from the Western USA that needed moderate restoration. And because it was a Rallye Red big block, console w/buckets car, it also seemed to be fairly rare to me. The pictures tell most of the rest of the story of this Fury Sport. The paint is original, but it clearly needs refinishing and body work. But, with a rust-free underside and trunk area, the other areas shown that need repair are fairly straight-forward except for the passenger door as a dent has flattened the body lines and it will take expert body work (better yet an nice used door) to address. My practice (expensive) is to replace rust-through areas with new metal, however epoxy techniques (cheaper) could be used to do the all body work. All the chrome is very good, as is all the glass, and I have a passenger side bumper filler of a different color that I will include with the car. I also have the mast for the antenna although pictures do not show it. Mechanically, this Fury Sport runs ok, but it is not ready for extended driving without going through a thorough inspection. At 137K miles, there is a puff of smoke from the engine at startup that disappears immediately thereafter, but it does not seem to burn oil excessively. The radiator will need replacement. The lower portion of the speedo cable was damaged when I took out the transmission for rebuild so that portion of the cable needs to be replaced (an NOS upper portion that attaches to cluster is included with the car). The car has factory AC system but it does not blow cold air. The interior is in pretty good shape. The drivers seat needs attention, as do the door panels, window handles, and headliner (intact but stained). The dash is not cracked or warped, but the rear package tray needs replacement. The carpeting is worn but in decent shape. The tires are lightly-used 235/70-15 radials, with the Chrysler road wheels (car originally had wheel covers that will be included with the car along with the original steel wheels) that I bought specifically for this car had I completed the restoration. The ideal new owner for this Fury Sport likely has a donor car and/or the parts to complete the restoration process. If you are handy with a wrench and have or know a good body shop, for a manageable additional effort, this car represents a fairly good starting point for you. And when you’re done you’ll have one of the coolest, latter year B-body Furys still in existence. As you know, there just were not that many Fury Sports made, and just one year later all these B-body Furys were gone forever. While a new owner can do whatever they want with it, I hope it finds a new home where its restoration can be completed. AUCTION SUCCESS CONSIDERATIONS I am going to use a no reserve format for this 1977 Fury Sport auction. Please note that I reserve the right to end this auction early, for any reason at my sole discretion. So it may be important to consider bidding early and often up to whatever amount you are willing to pay. Note also this Fury is for sale locally. I am sorry in advance but the frequency of non-paying, unresponsive bidders makes it necessary to require the following: I truly appreciate anyone's legitimate interest in my auction that leads to responsible bidding, that in turn forms the basis for a potentially successful transaction. However, please DO NOT BID AT ALL if you do not have any required financing, insurance, storage, customs and duties information, spouse's permission ... whatever it is you need ... IN PLACE to allow you to honor your winning bid. Further, bidders with less than 5 (five) feedbacks will have their bids immediately canceled, no matter what the amount, unless you contact me in advance of bidding. Bidders outside North America (anywhere other than the US, Canada, or Mexico “mainland”) are welcome to bid, but also must email me before bidding. INSPECTION AND WARRANTY INFORMATION Any and all relevant and appropriate questions you submit will be answered promptly and as thoroughly as possible by email only. Again, given that this obviously is a used vehicle please do not have unreasonable expectations as to its current condition or future condition under your ownership. If you require it, please make all pre-bid inspections (at the sole expense of the bidder) before committing to purchase the car. Inspections can be done by appointment only until 48 hours before the auction’s end. Although I believe I have described this vehicle accurately, please note that this vehicle is sold "as-is, where-is” with no express or implied warranties or guarantees of any kind. With the required legal statements provided, I am a reasonable person and I know potential buyers may not be able to see this car before bidding. If the winning bidder was unable do a pre-bid inspection and then determines that, after submitting a timely deposit but before taking delivery, I did not accurately represent the car in some significant and obvious way, I will try to work it out with you. As reasonable people, if we cannot figure something out, I will immediately refund your entire deposit and we can both move on without any further obligation to each other. Please recognize that this is not an invitation for potential bidders to skip your own pre-bid investigations and is not an opportunity for me and the winning bidder to try later to negotiate away our respective contractual responsibilities. PAYMENT AND STORAGE A $500 deposit is required from the winning bidder, due electronically via PayPal within 24 hours after the auction ends, to hold the vehicle. I will not be accepting trades. Full payment is due within 7 days of auction end via cash or certified bank check (drawn on a major US bank). I can hold the vehicle in indoor storage for 15 days at no charge to the winning bidder after the auction (the charge is $15.00 per day after 15 days). Thank you for viewing my auction.
