Up for auction is this great 1947 Plymouth P-15 4 door sedan. If you are looking for a good solid reliable 1940’s vehicle at a great price … This is it. This car has a great Hollywood history as well. There are very low miles on the rebuilt motor (3,943 miles) and lots of brand new parts!!!! A hidden CD/MP3 player in the glove box. This car also runs relatively cool ,even in Summer!!! MOVIE HISTORY This car has been located in and near Los Angeles for decades. It’s early days included use in the “HAPPY DAYS” television series and numerous movies including its last movie appearance in “DEVIL IN A BLUE DRESS” starring Denzel Washington in 1995. ONE OF THE SCENES FROM THE MOVIE,WITH THIS CAR, IS SHOWN IN THIS AUCTION. CAR FEATURES This is a 1947 Plymouth Special Deluxe 4 door sedan. P-15 body style. It features suicide doors in the rear. Three speed column shift. An ORIGINAL DELUXE RADIO that glows different colors depending on the position of the tone knob. Colors glow from yellow. To orange, to red, to blue, to green. THERE IS A PHOTO SHOWING TWO OF THESE COLORS IN THE AUCTION. This original radio is not actually hooked up to the antenna. It is wired to appear to work and lights up., but does not actually work. It probably can be fixed if so desired. There is a CD/MP3 player hidden in the glove box that works instead. The HOOD ORNAMENT LIGHTS UP!! This car has the rare FACTORY STOCK OPTIONAL TURN SIGNALS that work!! This (1947 year) is the first optional turn signals offered by Plymouth. DOME LIGHT that works. Restored wood grain door moldings and dash!! Flathead inline 6 cylinder motor. This MOTOR HAS ONLY 3,943 MILES on the rebuild. Motor features stock oil filter. This has been converted to a 12 VOLT SYSTEM with a brand new alternator!! Also featured is a new electronic distributor upgrade. I do have the original stock distributor for the purist if they want it included. CONDITION This car is in excellent condition. It is a good solid car, but does show the normal signs of its age. There is no heavy rust visible overall as this is a California car., but there is a little rust under the trunk lid /tail light area that is common to the P-15’s. and other small common areas. The trunk is solid and even the reservoir for the spare tire is in excellent condition. The rocker panels appear to be good as well. There are no major dents and it appears to have never been in a collision. The paint is good but has small chips, cracks and other signs of normal use and age Definitely very presentable and good enough for a driver. The glass is in very good condition ..no cracks and hardly any yellowing. Very clean and clear glass!! The interior has been restored and is in good condition. It has been restored close to original style. All lights work including the turn signals, dome light, running lights , original radio, gauges, and hood ornament. All gauges work except the fuel gauge and Temperature gauge. Speedometer registers but needs some work. Choke knob is a little loose and needs a little fixing too. Original Gas tank is in excellent condition and the inside looks almost like new. Windshield wipers work. Rebuilt motor runs good and is converted to 12 volt. IT DOES NEED A TUNE UP THOUGH. There doesn’t appear to be any leaks from the motor. The original or original style honeycomb radiator is in great shape and this car runs relatively cool. This car has never overheated on me.. Even in Summer!! I have even used this as a daily driver for periods of time. This car runs good and drives good. The brake system was gone through and is this best set of brakes I have ever felt on a car this old!! Good strong rebuilt brakes!! Brand new blackwall tires and new spare tire as well!!!!!! Does need new hood hinges. Currently registered (CA). Some of the features….. FACTORY TURN SIGNALS WORK!!! AND MORE!! This is a great car for any vintage enthusiast. It is located near Los Angeles. I hate to sell this but I need the money for another project I am working on.
