1972 ROLLS ROYCE SILVER SHADOW 39,958 Miles This Silver Shadow has had 2 Owners. The Original owner had 3 homes one in West Palm Beach Florida another on Fifth ave. New York City and one here in Wilton, CT. This car was purchased from the Roll Royce Dealer in West Palm Beach, Florida and driven to their Connecticut home via flat bed truck. This car has been Chauffeur driven since it's purchase by the second owners in Connecticut in December 1999 with 32,744 miles. It was the Chauffeurs job to clean and have the car maintained up to its finest condition at the Carriage House Motor Cars of New York and Greenwich, Connecticut. The second owners will have all their services performed in Woodbridge Connecticut by a specialist. This car will come with the Original factory tools, Owners Manual & Service Record Book. There is a complete set of factory service manuals with detail information about this vehicle for service. After the second owner acquired this gem he contacted J. Edward VanDoren (noted London Wood Craftsman) to fit a Special Bar made from the same woods to this car then he personally came over and install it. Pleas feel free to contact us about this car. It drives wonderful, runs great, A/C works great, etc.. The only thing that I did not make work properly is the 8 track player. There is a cloudy spot in the paint right under the drivers door handle and a few minor flaws/check marks on the paint around the trunk area.. Nothing that's an eye sore. I'll try to show it in a photo. We do not know the actual value of this vehicle in today's market. I see prices all over the place. I believe I set the reserve low enough to guarantee the sale of this vehicle and will make adjustments if necessary. What I do know. We want to sell this car. I will add what I lean from everybody to this listing. I have had some concerns with people asking if the miles were true.. YES the miles are true. 39,958 miles and never driven in the rain/always garaged. The first owner had pasted away and the second owners were friends that purchased this car. The second owners are 70 + years old and kicking like a horse, So they are available to answer any questions If I cannot. INFO FROM OTHERS (Thank you) No question, just a compliment on a beautiful carriage & an additional important fact you did not mention but should. Your '72 Shadow is a rare & desirable long wheel base model, later called the Silver Wraith (& Wraith II) by Crewe in subsequent model years through '80 after which the monococque Spirit/Spur redesign began to be offered. You can discern a long wheel base model by the VIN number, begining with "L". Regular length Shadow models began with "S". Wraith/LWB rear doors are 6 inches longer than the Shadow, all that space being extra foot room that allowed for that most elegant bar to be specially fitted. All LWB/Wraith had a smaller rear wind screen (for privacy), by comparison with Shadow standard models whose equivalent glass spanned the full height & width of the carriage roof. Being a '72, the fuel filler port is to the passenger side in the rear fender rather than, as later, raised to the shoulder level on the driver side & placed in the rear roof or "C" pillar The trim, bumpers, etc are solid stainless steel, not chrome or chrome plate. Manual sez do not polish, just wipe with a damp cloth. They never need replating because there IS no plating.On Aug-26-10 at 18:59:45 PDT, seller added the following information: I just added more photos, One of the Original Title showing the Rolls Royce dealer from New York. "Palmyer Motors Inc" Another showing the Original keys and possibly the original key chain that came with the car. Just another update for your listing. Another correspondent indicated that the LWB version has a rear door 6 inches longer than the standard chassis. It should read 4 inches, the standard chassis has a 120" wheelbase whereas the long wheelbase variant is 124 inches. There were no changes to the rear fenders or any other bodywork so the rear doors can only be 4" longer. This makes the rear passenger compartment jet more expansive and luxurious.
