Vehicle Detail

For auction is our 1987 VW Westfalia camper. This van has just under 107,000 original miles. There is zero structural rust. There are a few places of surface corrosion but it is entirely surface. There is no cancer, body rot, whatever you want to call it. We are in a clean, dry, Colorado environment. It is a 4-speed and has A/C. Everything works except the cruise control. (I should add that we never tried the refrigerator or stove so I don't know about those. They appear complete but we never filled the propane tank.) This van is dead stock with no modifications whatsoever. Maintenance and service have been performed regularly and thoroughly, and include a very recent major tune-up. All work during our ownership performed by Blazer Automotive in Englewood, Colorado, and if you're not familiar with them they are the best - nationally known. The van runs perfectly and I would not hesitate a bit to drive it coast to coast starting this afternoon. Tires, brakes, clutch, all excellent. It's a great vehicle. As you can see in the pictures a few things are not right. There is body damage to the rear quarter. This is all surface damage and the rear door, or hatch, seals 100 percent and is not affected by the damage. There is a small amount of damage right above the driver's side rear wheel. It was painted to protect the metal. There is a small crack in the lower part of the windshield and there are a couple of rock dings. There is damage to the interior panel of the sliding door. I would also recommend buying and installing a new carpet kit from Go Westy. Why are we selling the van? I thought my wife and kids would like to camp but it turns out that my wife has no interest and we simply haven't had time. I drive the van about once a month to keep it healthy but other than that it gets no use. I would like it to be in the hands of someone who will use it and enjoy it. It is a great camper van.
