Vehicle Detail

This item is being relisted after winning bidder failed to make arrangements for payment. Serious bidders only please. This is a very solid 1987 Carrera Cabriolet. It has the factory whale tail, fully automatic power top and, except for a few minor upgrades, has been purposefully kept in its original, classic form. IMPORTANT TITLE /LIEN NOTE: The speedometer was replaced at 80,120 miles and it is officially recorded in the Porsche warranty voucher book with the dealer stamp as having been installed by the Porsche dealer in Highland Park, IL. The current replacement speedometer (installed by that dealer) has 43,xxx miles on it. (This is the odometer/title issue that comes up in the vehicle history report). The true mileage is the combination of the original miles 80,120 + miles driven since new speedomoter was installed 43,xxx = 123,xxx actual miles. Also, there is no lien on the vehicle as the report shows. I am in possession of the current, clear title. I have owned the vehicle since 2005 and drove it daily 8 miles each way to work from 2005-2007. Since late 2007, I relocated and have kept the car in the garage and only drive it on the occasional weekend jaunt in the country. Since 2005, I have put 9,000 miles on the car. It has been garage-kept at all times. The Carfax report showed an accident when I was researching the car. I was told that the previous owner had hit a mailbox with the car and that the damage was cosmetic. I can vouch for that as the vehicle is tight, holds a great straight line and has NO issues that a bad accident could bestow whatsoever. When I bought the car from a man in Baltimore some things needed addressing, but I still managed to drive it from Maryland down to Alabama. It gets amazing gas mileage, is very dependable and serviceable, turns heads everywhere, and puts a smile on my face every time its classic H-6 flexes its muscles. Here is more information: The car has a new windshield and rubber seal Fully automatic power top with working power latches It has a new OEM, German-made 930 Turbo steering wheel installed as well as the original Carrera wheel in excellent condition Custom car cover, tonneau cover, and convertible boot cover. The factory analog clock still works! All of the engine seals were replaced by the previous owner and I have no oil leaks that I am aware of. New front strut assembly and struts were replaced with new OEM Bilstein ($1,400 not counting labor) New front wheel bearings Replaced heater blower Installed new tie rod assembly New turn signal switch New Bosch alternator It has a new Optima red top battery Spark plugs & wires replaced It has a K&N air filer Both power seats work and this car has the "hold you tight and never let you go" factory sport seat option with the 7 inch deep side bolsters. The previous owner told me that the clutch was replaced with a very heavy-duty racing clutch from Kennedy Engineered Racing. This was later verified by Protech Motorsports in Greenville, SC Things to note: The paint looks really good, but is not a show quality paint job. The car was painted two owners back and I can find some flaws up close. Although, even at 5 feet the car looks amazing. There was a small rust area inside the passenger side door threshhold (only visible when looking for it if the door is opened.) I removed the rust and primed and repainted the area with Porsche factory touch-up paint, but did not put in filler of any sort. It was my intention to, but I just did not follow through as it didn't really bother my ownership experience. If you are interested, we can discuss that, but honestly it'll be an inexpensive repair and I didn't want to bother with it right now. It has factory AC, and an R-134 conversion, but the previous owner never used the AC. I charged it up with R-134 and it worked fine for a day. So, obviously there is a leak somewhere. That being said, it is a CONVERTIBLE so I wouldn't worry too much about the AC. Even when new, these 911's were notorious for having substandard AC as it was definitely an afterthought. The car is not perfect, but it is an AMAZING car for the price, is dependable, and will give you a lot of fun!
