Vehicle Detail

This is a great Bugeye for anyone who wants a fun project with a low entry price. At Bugeyeguy.com we've restored and prepared dozens of Bugeyes and we can help you get this car into your garage for you to enjoy. Whether you are new to this, hit a roadblock while making a repair, or need help locating a part, we always provide free phone support to buyers. That's been our commitment all along... to support customers to have great bugeyes and to keep them on the road! With all our listings, you get a complete inventory of what the car needs... no surprises! I look at and purchase dozens of Bugeyes every year and I bought this one because it is far better than most of the project cars I see. First of all, it drives. There will be mechanical items to repair (more info on that later) but this is a running and driving car. Next, this is a complete and mostly original car that has been unmolested. It appears to have had one respray over the years and it looks like someone wanted to put another gauge in the dash-fortunately they only cut the vinyl- you can see the circle on the dash when the vinyl is removed--And this would all disappear when the dash gets recovered (it should be red anyway)... but other than that, this is an original car. It's refreshing to see the original gauges and switches where they are supposed to be! Last and most importanly, this car is much more solid than most of the project Bugeyes I see. The rear fender bottoms are good and the nose is extremely solid. The nose fits well and will fit even better once the worn driver's side bonnet hinge is replaced-(readily available new). The fender beading is good. The valence under the grill is very good. There is rust to repair in the floor pan and rockers-but otherwise, this is the type of project that can be done quickly instead of disassembled and left sitting for years because it's just too overwhelming. You can drive this car this summer and fix the metal work in the winter... and that is a nice way to make sure your project will get completed and not just enrage your spouse for being a box of loose parts that never find their way back onto a driving car! I have started the engine and outlined the issues in the video below. If you watch it, you will also have a sense of how I would attack the necessary repairs: As far as mechanical work needed, the engine is strong. The hydraulics will need refreshing for safety. The brakes work but I would change the wheel cylinders to make sure you have reliable good brakes. I would also change the slave cylinder and rebuild the master. You will need new front shocks and new tires. Once this is complete, you will have a good driver. All these parts are readily available. I will help the new owner get set -up with sources for parts and can even offer some discounts for parts needed. The parts are quite inexpensive... tires for example are only about $42 each! The top is good. Seats are worn but passable for driving the car this summer. I would encourage the new owner to fix the mechanical punch list, drive and enjoy the car, and then begin the metal work when the snow flies. All in all, here is a great "starter" Bugeye, a great project, a great complete car that could be restored to a high standard, a great parent/child hobby project that is not too daunting... and a great opportunity to bring another Bugeye back into service to provide many smiles for many miles to come! Good luck bidding! About The BUGEYEGUY: I strive to find great British cars and bring them to you! I also really enjoy documenting the attributes of British cars and you can see dozens of videos on my bugeyeguydotcom channel on YouTube. I want you to be delighted with your purchase and while I encourage you to come see the car before you bid, most of my customers have been out of the area and have relied on videos and photos to make their purchases. So you’ll find lots of info on my listings... much more than on most ebay offerings... as I hope to make you feel comfortable before you bid. If you read my feedback, you’ll see it's 100% positive. CLICK HERE to check out my other British cars and Bugeyes for sale (or visit Bugeyeguy.com). I always have several Bugeyes from which to choose, in full range of prices and conditions. You can also see video testimonials from customers at this website. I strive to form a great alliance with my customers. After you win the auction, I look forward to speaking with you to facilitate getting your new classic to its new home! I'll gladly help with towing and shipping arrangements anywhere in the world but the cost of shipping is of course your responsibility. I routinely load and ship cars all over the world. No worries! Feel free to email any questions, because the car is sold without guarantee or warranty and is sold as is. Actual mileage of this car is unknown. These speedometers often get repaired or replaced so the odometers are frequently inaccurate. This car is sold with the paperwork you need to register it anywhere in the world. You can bid here with confidence. Call me at 203 561 6929 if you want to discuss the car-I’ll be happy to address any questions or concerns (9-9 Eastern ((New York)) time only please). I am also available on SKYPE for international bidders with questions. The car is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early. However, I will not end the auction if the reserve is met or within the last 24 hours of the auction. Please don't ask the reserve- it is very reasonable and set based on actual sales. However, should the reserve not be met in the auction, bidders are given first priority should they contact me once the auction is complete. Thanks for visiting and good luck bidding! On Aug-09-10 at 10:18:12 PDT, seller added the following information: Typo on the mileage... the car shows 65598 not 85598 indicated miles...
