Vehicle Detail

I am the 3rd owner of this 1960 Cadillac. My friend owned it for over 30 years and then sold it to me in 2007. The odometer shows 48K miles and I think that's original. My friend bought this car as part of a package deal from the original owner in the mid 70s. This is not a show car but a very nice cruiser. Please check back in the next couple of days. I'll post a link to many more pictures. Paint & Body I had the car stripped down to the metal and repainted, new upholstery, carpet and most of the glass. The floors had holes in them so I had all floors, trunk pan and rockers replaced at the time the body work was done. The dash was in good shape but discolored so I repainted it while it was out. I'm including pics of the body stripped down to the metal. The good thing is you can see that the car was never hit. The bad thing is that they got the color wrong so I made them repaint it. The color is great now and the mist metallic is on very nicely but it's not perfect. The clear coat should be wet sanded and polished. So if you want the finish looking perfect you should get it wet sanded and polished, but for me it's fine the way it is. The paint is shiny and Heather Mist is a very beautiful color. I get compliments on it every time I take it out. Drivetrain The motor still runs very strong and does not smoke or knock at all, and it's never been rebuilt. I had the transmission, carburetor, water pump and radiator rebuilt. Replaced the gas tank and fuel pump, completely redid the brakes including new stainless steel brake lines, and completely replaced the top mechanics even though the original was still working. I didn't want to risk having a top cylinder or line break after putting a new interior in. The top, doors and trunk have all new rubber. Interior and Top I repainted the dash, polished the stainless and chrome bars on the top rails, had the black top rails repainted, metal dash repainted (gray) and had the seats and door panels all reupholstered in a nice grain vinyl (gray). The vinyl looks great. The interior shop also put new carpet in (silver) and it has the nice low loop as original. The new top is excellent, with a perfectly clear window. I also replaced the top handles (chrome). The top and it's mechanics all come with warranties. Glass All glass is the green tint option and in good shape. The windshield, and some of the side windows were recently replaced due to bubbling or cracks in the orig. Chrome & Stainless The grills and bumpers are still original and would need to be re-plated for show, but they shine ok as is too. They’re solid but have some scratches on the front and some small pits on the rear. When I bought the car a couple of the rims were not correct. It now has 5 rims that have been sandblasted and painted before mounting new radial white walls on them. I had about 25 hubcaps for this car so I selected the best of them all and shined them up by hand so the centers still look correct. All of the stainless was removed before painting and all has been hand polished. The front grill has been partially cleaned up but it could use more polishing (toothbrush and alum polish works well), or it would need to be disassembled and professionally polished for show. Again, this car looks fine the way it is too, if you plan to use it and have fun, this is a good car. Options Power steering, power brakes, power windows, power seat, autronic eye, wonderbar radio. This car has the rare floor button for the wonderbar radio and it still works. The power antenna works too. It's fun to ask your passengers if they like the current song on the radio, then say you don't like it and tap that button with your foot so it changes to the next station. They'll wonder how you did it....hmmm, maybe that's why it's called a "wonderbar". Don't forget to check back for a link to more pictures. I should have it up soon. I have a realistic low reserve on this car as I've been watching them lately on ebay. So this car should only be up for auction once. Please don't ask what the reserve is. If you've been watching these lately I can tell you that my reserve is less than what I have seen all the others end at without hitting those reserves. I love this car but will be moving soon and won't have space for it. This is a great chance to get a fantatic car at a low price. Much lower than what it would have gone for a couple years ago. ThanksOn Aug-09-10 at 10:38:39 PDT, seller added the following information: I'm hearing from a lot of people, so I'm adding the pics that have been requested. I just added a pic of the engine compartment, a pic of the solid new floors while the car was in the interior shop, and a pic of the car being stripped down to the metal back when it was in the paint shop for nearly a year. I have more pics of the car stripped down but they all look like this one, shiny metal. Ebay only allows 24 pics and now I'm at 20 so I want to leave room for any more pic requests that might come in. Please come see the car in person if you can (Orange County, Southern CA), and take it for a spin. I don't remember if I mentioned that the car has duel exhaust with glass packs too. It sounds great.
