1969 Jeepster Commando C101 NO RESERVE 1969 Jeepster Commando C101, Convertible Wagon W/Factory Steel Hardtop, Dauntless 225 V6 -160hp, 4X4, Western Alloy Wheels, Warn Winch (not Hooked up), Dana Transfer Case, Nice interior and exterior..... This is a 1969 Jeep Commando Hardtop Convertible. The 1966-1971 Jeepsters were built with the CJ front end which makes them pretty desirable, because they have to true look of the Jeep that everyone thinks about when you say that name. So Jeep came back to its roots and built it right. The Jeepster Commando, was built to compete against the Bronco and Land Cruiser. The Jeepster name started with Willys Overland Jeeps, but they did not use the traditional Jeep nose. Kaiser/Jeep brought back the CJ nose when they revived the Jeepster for 1966-71. AMC bought Jeep around 1972 and changed the nose again, to look more like a Bronco. This Jeep is in very good shape, there is NO RUST, and there are no rust repairs, it has original Floors, the Body mounts are all in excellant shape, has original quarters, all the inner jams are in great shape, this Jeeps body and under carriage are very impressive, because they are so clean, if you look inside the quarters they are very clean, they need to be detailed, but they are really clean, most jeeps are not in this good of condition due to rust issues. This is not a perfect Jeep by anymeans, this is one that someone can enjoy and work as you drive it, pretty much most Jeeps become the owners pride and joy, tinkering etc. This Jeep has a very good body as I mentioned before. The paint is about 10 years old, and is showing its age a bit, it does have a glossy shine, but it has various chips and a few small scratches in general, some touched up and some not. The paint is not a high dollar paint paint job, there is some basic orange peel when you look down the side, maybe if someone wet sanded it and buffed it that would help. The body is in general straight, but there is a little wavyness in the panels. There are some small blisters in the paint on the hood near the front on passenger side, see picture of this. Overall good looking paint and body from about 15-13 feet away, when you get closer you notice little stuff here and there. Interior is very nice, seats were recovered a while back, and look nice no tears or issues, they feel nice when you ride in it. The carpet is newer and in good shape. Dash pad is in excellant shape. It is missing the passenger side door armrest. It has a Roll Bar bolted down, Glass is all good, the door glass rolls up and down nicely. Gauges all work, fuel, temp, odometer. The windshield wipers work, turn signals work, brake lights just currently stopped work not sure why. Heater switch for the fan is not working. Horn does not work. Overall a decent interior, that is in nice clean shape. Mechanically it seems to be in good shape. When you start it you have to pull the manual choke all the way out, and it needs to warm up. When you drive it and idle it etc, you have to tinker with the choke cable, getting it in the right spot, adjusting it to get it to run smooth. Not sure if it is a carburetor issue or choke etc. This is the original 225 V6, which I believe is a Buick engine that Jeep used and they called it the Dauntless 225. I don't know much about GM products when it comes to engine etc. It misses a little when it is just idleing, but when driving it, it has good power, and seems to smooth out, adjusting the choke at different speeds helps. It needs someone to tinker with it, it has been sitting for a bit and doesn't get used like it should. It runs cool, radiator is clean, no water leaks. The engine does not leak any oil on the ground. The Transfer case drips a little fluid on the ground, when it is parked, I have some seals for it. I thought it was the transmission, but from inspection on my lift, it looks to be up higher were the controls are. I could be wrong on this, I am just letting you know it has a leak, doesn't affect the drive ability at this point, just needs to be looked after. Most of you guys or gals that are into these 4X4 rigs, know that it is important to maintain this stuff and do it in your sleep. The 4 wheel drive does work, I tried it out on some gravel, in high and low, after I locked the front hubs, also tried it on my lift while it was running, to observe everything, looked to be doing what it should do. The transmission shifts nicely, the clutch seems a little weak or needs adjusting in 1st gear, if you let out to fast on it, it shutters a little bit, if you are good to it, it is nice and smooth. To me the clutch feels good, it grabs nicely, does not slip, but needs adjusting. The Warn Winch is not hooked, up, it was hooked up before they painted it 10 years ago, but they never put all the cables back on, I have the cables and switches. Thats what the 2 holes are in the grill area, the cables come through there. I hooked juice up to the winch, and it seems to work, I did not put any load on it, just wanted to check the motor. This winch is vintage, and I love the aluminum case on it, it would look good all polished up. On Aug-05-10 at 20:00:10 PDT, seller added the following information: Forgot to add, the Emergency brake handle is missing, underneath the cables look to be all there, but I have not handle, so emergency brake does not work. Also on the passengerside, the exhaust manifold is leaking, at the donut, or off the manifold itself, it is not terribly loud, but you can here it a bit. It lets in some fumes inside while driving it, so you will want to fix that down the road as well, also on the tailpipe, someone (not me), tried to repair it with some puddy or something, I show a picture of it. Thanks for the emails I have been getting, and a few phone calls. Surprised, the I had a couple emails from Europe on this Jeep. I have sold many cars overseas, so I invite Internation Bidders, all the paperwork is in order, I have the title in hand, Vin number is intact on the vehicle and matches the vin on the title. On Aug-07-10 at 09:23:14 PDT, seller added the following information: >br> Here is a picture of the Transfer case, and the front axle, I do not know how to decode these numbers. Odometer reads 75K, but assume it has rolled over, I do not have any documentition, that is just what it reads, and it does work.
