Vehicle Detail

Up for bid is my 1987 Pontiac Fiero GT with a 3.4L crate engine, which I purchased new from GM Performance in 2002. I've put less than 20 miles on the engine, since I installed it in 2002. The engine came in a long block configuration consisting of: block, cylinder heads, crankshaft, camshaft, timing chain, front cover, oil pump with pickup, oil pan, valve covers, damper, and miscellaneous hardware. This was the same engine used in the 1993 Chevrolet Camaro. The only modification the block required was to relocate the starter, by tapping new threads into block and grinding down the block to clear the automatic transmission. I rented a drill guide from the Fiero Shop to make sure I got the location right. Except for grinding out the restrictions in the exhaust manifold, adding poly engine mounts and adding stainless steel brake lines the rest of the car is stock. I’m only the second owner of this car and it’s obvious that the prior owner really loved and cherished this car. There are a few minor chips in the paint, but overall it’s in excellent shape. There’s no fading or ‘spider webs’ on the bumpers. With the exception of a stain on the passenger seat, the interior is also in great shape. In addition to the pictures, I have provided a PDF document containing the receipt for the 3.4 with associated documentation and a video walk around of the car (See Below). Below are highlights (good and bad) about the car. Replacement Parts (I have receipts for everything below except the stainless steel brake lines, rotors, and fuel pump ) 3.4 crate engine. Poly engine mounts Stainless steel brake linesCatalytic Converter4 rotors4 rebuilt calipersAdjustable Fuel pressure regulator Reconditioned fuel injectors Torque converter Master CylinderFuel PumpIssues Air conditioning does not work. It could be something simple, but it likely needs a new compressor with the updated coolant (R135A).Slow leak in 2 tires. (Looses 3lbs per day)There’s some corrosion along the outer rim of all 4 wheels. (See pictures), but the gray paint of the diamond spokes is in good condition. The wheels would look great if you just refinish the outer edge.Slight idle hunt. This might have to do with bad/old fuel, computer still in learn mode, or something else.Even though the rotors, pads, brake lines, and master cylinder have been replaced, along with a flush of the brake system, the brakes are still spongy. They may have to just seat themselves or something else is wrong. Maybe the brake booster.Needs a four wheel alignment. Stain on passenger side seat (See picture).Other points about the car The PROM chip is stock and is really designed for the 2.8 engine. The car is ‘finicky’ if the battery is disconnected and the computer is forced to ‘relearn’. After disconnecting the battery it will start and stall a number of times. After a 3 mile trip it starts and runs fine. (Except for the idle hunt mentioned). You may want to consider getting a custom chip for this engine.I completed the engine swap in 2003 and I always planned on restoring and upgrading the other components, but life always got in the way. The car has sat in my garage for the past 7 years and up until a few weeks ago had not been run. I did put the car on blocks and added fuel stabilizer before storing it.I have tried to be as honest as I possibly can about this car, but be aware that many components on this car are 23 years old with almost 150,000 miles. The car is sold ‘as is’ with no warranty expressed or implied. The car is available for inspection and by appointment in Salem, MA. I may be able to assist with shipping if needed. Please don’t hesitate to ask. PDF document showing receipt for 3.4 and other details
