The engine was completely rebuilt by Ray Nash here in the D.C. area and Mercedes Expert on these engines. The car has been in an enclosed garage for the last 25 or so years (same person had it since '78) and the fenders and sheet metal are very strong and solid...The rockers panels are even rust-free and one could easily jack up the car using the jack ports. I'd guess there are not many Mercedes 180d's around in this shape after 51 plus years...old man rust and time killed most of them. Actually, it's really a "survivor" in many ways as the interior is original, and old, but I covered over the old Mercedes fabric with black/gray cloth, as someone may want to see it and order the same pattern in order to replace the seats and door panels. The old cloth is pretty rough but all there. I took the back seat out today just today and it all original too. The rubber floor mats are old and brittle. The second spare tire cover had never been opened as the Motorola Base Unit was on top of it...Just like new inside. This is a very nice, straight little Ponton that someone should take to the next level. It makes a great Weekend Classic Driver and just may be one of the best "straight-rust free" old Pontons around especially in pretty much original condition except for the black repaint of the original color 040 black years ago on much of the car. Seems to be all there from working clock to all the lights. It just sat in the garage for a long time here in the Annapolis, MD area. The keys all match the car locks, including the gas tank cover lock, trunk, doors, etc. Color orig. 040 black, some paint areas but great for all these years- Stored over 25 years in a garage near Annapolis, MD where I found it- Speedo shows 97,940 and is probably original, records to '78 show it's correct Original cloth interior including door panels Complete engine rebuild from Ray Nash ca. 15 years ago, with ca. 10,000 miles on it now Folding roof and headliner redone in the mid 80's, great overall condition All new brake lines, Mar. '10 All Brake cylinders rebuilt, Feb. '10 Master cylinder rebuilt, Mar. '10 Brake drums, all 4 turned in March. '10 New brake shoes, fronts, left and right Mar. '10 New tires, all 4, April 10, dual spares, have extra rim for second spare Carb. rebuilt on March '10 Fuel sending unit taken out and cleaned and the fuel tank washed out-works fine. Filters all new, air, oil, fuel and oil change, April 10 New Muffler, Apr. 10 After market Radio Cassette installed but original Becker radio comes with the vehicle Shop manual, books, tool kit, owner's manual, tune up books included Front end aligned after 3 new tie rods ends replaced, Apr. 10 R. Front wheel bearing replaced, Mar. 10 Heater cores freed up and working, Apr. 10 Clock lubricated and cleaned, working fine- Very nice driver, with some rechrome on the rear bumper, body dings and small dents Glass very good on the complete car, no cracks, chips discoloration, windshield and seal was replaced ca. 15 year ago Email me for more pictures and questions if you would And MORE, many moe small extra parts (lights, rubber seals, door handles) go with the vehicle Some Mercedes Ponton lover buy "Brunhilde" and give her a nice, warm, moisture free garage for the rest of her life. Thanks for looking at my little Soccer Girl, picture with German Flag taken during the World Cup! Note Please: I'm running several ads on this car now and reserve the right to cancel the ebay ad at anytime. On Jul-06-10 at 13:36:14 PDT, seller added the following information: For clarification to all you that are looking at "Brunhilde," there are some slight dents/depressons on the hood and rt. fender, I tried to photograph them but they don't show well on the photos. The main thing is the car is very "sound" for its year and needs the window channel felt, new seat material, i.e. cloth and horsehair material as the driver's seat is soft when I drive it around. I weigh 180 lbs so for heavier people it's too soft. Very nice and clear glass and I sure the windshield was replaced years ago as it is so clear and is German with "Made in West Germany" on it. Hope this helps. On Aug-07-10 at 09:33:36 PDT, seller added the following information: All you dear people who are watching Brunhilde just keep it mind that this is a very solid bodied old Ponton. There are not many around like this that have not been damaged in an accident or mostly rusted away around the rockers, wheel well openings, trailing arms, etc. Really, this is a nice little car that needs the seat covers and seats cushions replaced, rubber seals around the doors and windown felt seals and it would be just about ready to drive around anywhere. I'm going to put a new fan belt on it as this one looks good but it just can't be after all these years in the garage. It does not even pver heat even in the high 90's the last few weeks. I just went on a 50 mile plus trip the other day and everything seems find although I'm not happy with these now power brakes. Call me on the land line: 410 544 2225 or the cell. 443 454 2829 and let's talk cars as I did all the work myself, well most of it, and can tell you what's the true story on the car. Thank You, Douglas
