I recently sold my pristine 2003 Honda Accord to a good friend and agreed to sell his 2000 Toyota Celica GTS for him.... This is neat little car and I will try to list everything he's told me about it and I have observed. My friend is a 43 year old man that does not mistreat his stuff.... all maintenance except tires and batteries has been done by the Toyota dealership. He kept maticulous maintenance records on his computer that lists everything done to the car from the time he purchases it until now. The car runs very strong and you would never know it has high mileage by the way it runs. He changes his oil every 4k miles and when it's close to an oil change it may get a half quart low at most... it does not smoke, knock, etc. EXTERIOR The overall appearance is good. There are no big dents, only a few small door dings. The car has a nice shine to it. The drivers front rims finish is starting to come off... he said this was a replacement rim he got a couple years ago. The tires are getting low on tread, but not bald... they probably have a few thousand miles left on them. He never opens the sunroof but said last time he did, he had trouble getting it to seal, therefore I did not attempt to open it. He's not very mechanically inclined so it may be something as simple as some glue for the weather stripping. INTERIOR The drivers area is the most worn area of the car... the seat has a small tear on the side where you enter and exit the vehicle. The carpet on the floor is worn, but covers up well with a nice matt. Stearing wheel, dash and everything else appears in good shape... passenger side and back seats look like new. DRIVE I was surprised at how well this car drives and handles. It feels really tight and is actually quite fun to drive. The A/C is ice cold. Brakes, transmission, and everything else feels pretty solid. He mentioned the check engine light comes on during a long trip and once he's back home driving around town, it goes off. I have a code reader I got from costco and it says something about Emissions is below efficiency threshold.... Toyota told him not to worry about it.
