Vehicle Detail
1992 Plymouth Colt GL 3-dr Deluxe Hatchback (aka Dodge Colt, Eagle Summit, Mitsubishi Mirage) VIN # JP3CU24A7NU036414 White exterior/dark red interior 1.5L 4-cylinder 12-valve fuel injection engine 5-speed manual transmission Air conditioning Power steering Power brakes Split folding rear seat Body side molding Folding side door mirrors Cargo cover AM/FM/cassette radio Rear window defroster Intermittent windshield wipers 5 mph front and rear bumpers Clear glass headlights (no condensation or discoloring) Unused spare tire Original owner’s manual and keys OEM Chrysler service manual Recently passed NJ state safety & emission inspection This car was made by Mitsubishi and imported by Chrysler under the Plymouth, Dodge and Eagle brands. It was also sold by Mitsubishi as a Mirage. They’re all the exact same car except for the interior trim. There are currently about 104,800 miles on the odometer, so you can see I don’t drive very much except to work and shopping. Fuel economy has always been very good, and I average about 34 mpg. The cargo area is surprisingly large, especially with the split rear seat folded down. I’m very fond of hatchbacks because of this feature and have carried many large items over the years that would never fit in a sedan. There’s plenty of headroom in the front seats and I fit comfortably (I’m 6’ 3” tall). It has decent power thanks to the manual transmission; the 3-speed automatic transmission version of this car is very underpowered. This is the most reliable car I’ve ever owned and never had a breakdown on the road. I’m the original and only owner of this car and have performed all maintenance and repairs myself. It runs like new and is in very good condition except as noted below. In addition to regular oil and filter changes, I annually replace the coolant and transmission, brake and clutch fluids. All of the typical wear items have been replaced or repaired as needed, such as shocks, struts, battery, brake pads/shoes, ECM, catalytic converter, fuel injectors, drive shafts, hoses, belts, timing belt, water pump, alternator, spark plug wires, distributor cap and rotor, etc. The A/C blows nice cold air, which is especially appreciated in this very long heat wave we've been in, and has never needed any repairs. I would keep this car forever, but now that I’m in my 6th consecutive year of cancer treatments, my legs are getting pretty weak and I’m starting to have trouble operating a clutch. I just bought a new car with an automatic transmission and must part with my old friend. I only used the cassette player once when the car was new and haven’t tried it since. Since it is primarily a mechanical device, I will assume it doesn’t work from old age, but don’t really know. The radio works fine. There is a brake fluid level sensor (a simple float switch) in the master cylinder fluid reservoir that does not work. This failed just after the new car warranty expired, and the part was outrageously expensive, since it was only available as a complete new master cylinder, and only available through the dealer at the time. I never bothered to replace it and just unplugged its electrical connector to keep the warning light from staying on. This does not affect the brake pressure and parking brake sensors, which share the same warning indicator and work fine. There is a small crack in the dashboard where I inadvertently hit it while loading in some heavy PVC pipes. The bottom rear of the left front fender has some rust, while the right one has rust through. Fortunately, this appears to only be cosmetic and does not affect the structural integrity of the car. Mitsubishi cleverly built cavities there that catch and hold debris, leaves and water, with no drain holes, so rust is inevitable. This car comes with no warranty or guarantees. I’ve kept it on the road since I prefer driving it (when my legs allow!) better than my new car. Please note that these pictures were taken before I had the car inspected recently. I’ve added one showing the new inspection sticker on the windshield. If you’re in the Clifton, NJ (Northeast NJ) area and would like to look it over or have a mechanic check it out, please contact me for an appointment. Please note that I've lowered the price to the point where I won't lower it any further, so it's now or never. There is no reserve price. Thanks, and good luck bidding! PS: E-ZPass not included!
