Vehicle Detail
1970 Oldsmobile 442 W-30. One-owner with 94,550 miles. Original owner, a certified diesel mechanic who passed away last year, bought new from factory and did what was believed to be a frame-on restoration in the late 1990s. I will do my best to describe what I know, but please understand I inherited this car and do not know everything. This vehicle has a significant REAR MAIN SEAL LEAK, so it is not road-worthy. In return, it is priced well below retail as a result. ****FOUND THE BUILD SHEET THAT CONFIRMS IT'S A W-30. Seq: 266, Mo: 04, Day: 24, Style: 34487, PLT OPT 16: A01 or 401, Body Number: 431792, Trim Combo: 930, Ext paint lower: 53, Ext. paint upper B, PP: 2 Second line, third box: W-30 Second line, ninth box: U80 The Fisher body plate reads the following: ST 70 34487LAN431792 BDY TR 930 B PNT 04D Found a number on the front of the engine ----> 396021 F THE GOOD Not a lot of money needed to make this a legitimate show winner .... THE BAD Owner NEVER considered selling the car, so he sold the W-30 distributor and intake manifold and replaced them with performance parts during the restoration. However, I can direct buyer to man who bought the original W-30 parts! ... Minor backfire on idle. Probably just gum in the carbs (Still sounds silky smooth). ... Quarter-sized chip of paint above left rear fender (see pic). ...
