Vehicle Detail
VINTAGE AMA SUPERBIKE This is a 1980 Suzuki GS1000S AMA Superbike that I began restoring several years ago. This bike is the real deal and a great example of the first generation, big bore, Superbikes that guys like Wes Cooley rode in the early eighties. The bike came out of Massachusetts and although I'm not sure of its history, I would say this a serious privateer piece. Maybe Johnny B? The frame is braced and gusseted, the rear shocks were moved forward as was the style of the time, early Works Performance shocks, the front end valving was re-worked and has progressive springs. Lockheed calipers w/cast iron rotors. The motor has a lightened, welded crank, Yoshimura cams & pistons, 29mm Mikuni Smooth Bores, Dyna Ignition, Joe Bolger rear motor mount, Bassani Superbike pipe. All the right stuff from that era and very cool. I rebuilt the bottom end, stripped and painted the frame and began assembly using new hardware. As shown in the photos, everything is there for re-assembly, including many new parts. The head needs a valve job but is in good condition, the Works shocks need servicing and new springs, re-cover the seat etc... Wouldn't take much to finish. This would make a great vintage racer or a really cool conversation piece. I would love to see this bike go to someone that appreciates the "Golden Era" of AMA Superbike. Please email me with any questions and I will respond promptly.
