1954 Oldsmobile Super 88 ("Rocket 88" Edition) Sedan Currently, this Beauty resides in Delray Beach, Florida. It was completely refurbished about ten years ago and a daily "California Classic" driver. The close to excellent paint (for its age) has aquired a small paint chip/rust spot in the bottom of the white hood, that is the size of a silver dollar; however, to make it right, the hood should be repainted. Other than that, the only issue is one front blinker lens that needs to be replaced. We originally acquired the 88 from a West Coast dealer and trucked it to Massachusetts. It’s a California car, with the “eyes” that made it an envy to own in the 1950’s, continuing as a desirable possession today. Its beauty and styling evoke memories of GM’s heyday, and why it will always be a part of Automotive Americana. Original appearance in all aspects. The paint is outstanding for its age with no road or parking lot dings. The interior is impeccable and the car runs and drives like a dream from yesteryear. The Super 88 differed from all other models in only a few ways. The standardly equipped 4 barrel carburetor system delivered additional performance and road handling abilities. They say, “one picture is worth a thousand words” and this is extremely true in this instance. 1982 380SL Mercedes Benz Roadster
The 1982 3.80SL Mercedes Benz Roadster being offered here is a beautiful example of European styling and workmanship The Cranberry color with buckskin leather interior and brown convertible top create an eye catching color combination which is quite attractive and is exceptionally striking. This vehicle was purchased new by a stockbroker as an investment. Later, the wife of an investment banker, with whom we became associated, saw the vehicle and it was love at first sight. The banker next persuaded the stockbroker to sell him the vehicle for his wife’s use. Subsequently, the wife of the owner of Cape Cod Classic cars saw the 380SL Roadster, and persuaded her husband to negotiate for the vehicle. That is the true history of this vehicle and how it came into our possession.
The car has been driven mainly during those periods when New England weather permits the freedom of wind in your hair and sun on your face and was garaged during those formidable New England winters.
This 1982 Mercedes 380SL Roadster has 118K original miles on the odometer and comes equipped with both the convertible and hard tops. Following replacement of the rocker and flooring panels, which had succumbed to the New England weather, the vehicle was completely repainted its original cranberry color. There is currently a 2” scratch on the trunk lid which resulted from a mishap while removing the hard top. The paint is otherwise in tip-top condition and no apology need be made for the appearance of this vehicle.
The 8 cylinder 3.8 liter engine was recently tuned and the vehicle runs and drives exceptionally well. The original audio system, which featured an AM/FM stereo was replaced with an AM/FM/CD player which does not detract from the original appearance. The dash is in excellent condition and, with the exception of the wood grain on the center console, the interior is in great shape for its age.
This vehicle is in fantastic condition and needs little TLC. The odometer reflects accurate mileage. There are no signs of prior damage on this vehicle. There are no dings visible on the exterior of this vehicle. This vehicle has a smooth shifting transmission. All power equipment is functioning properly. This is a great previously owned vehicle.
