Vehicle Detail

kriegel Store Beautiful fun reliable model T. Set up as a good driver. For the last two years I have been working on Model T's rather than my 1950-60's cars. I found one that had been sitting 20 years and had a great time learning the ins and outs of the Model T. These are fascinating cars to drive and work on. They are real attention grabbers driving down the street - getting smiles and waves all around. This car hobby has three great advantages in my opinion. They are very simple to work on. Parts are literally available overnight and from scores of vendors and finally, it is supported by many Clubs both local and on the internet. Model T hobby folks are the most friendly, helpful folks I have met in the car world. Here is one clubs we site http://www.mtfca.com/ Model T Ford Club of America , I found this car sitting stored for 8 years. This owner had it since 1992. It was beautiful with a well built pick up bed reportedly made with Library wood from the University of Minnesota . I have spent 7 months working with this car. I followed the Model T guidelines for taking a car out of mothballs checking all fluids, tire pressure, safety pins, engine compression, bands etc. I did the following repairs put on a new rebuilt water pump new fan belt leather Ford Script New spark plugs New spark plug wires added 20 feet of 8 gauge starter wire between the starter solenoid and the starter to reduce shock on the bendix from 12 volts vs Henry Ford's original 6. Cleaned battery to frame connection Added battery recharging cable from positive cable of battery to rear of car, so you can easily recharge the battery without removing the pick up bed ( the bed covers the battery access panel) Added monometer temperature gauge put on a newly rebuilt aooogha horn put on a new horn switch assembly added reverse pedal extension cleaned foot engine starter button varnished truck bed with marine polyurethane and lots more Car is a fun driver, drives straight, no wandering down the road. Lots of power/ Engine compression reads strong last pictures in series shows a compression reading # 1 54 pounds # 2 52 pounds #3 54 pounds # 4 54 pounds I was told car was restored in the 80's with a rebuilt engine. From the compression I could believe it This is why I listed 5000 assumed miles on the engine. I assume the car has from its age well over 100,000 miles You can have the car either as a truck as shown in the Memorial Day parade pictures or with the turtle back trunk your choice. I have a very nice coupe trunk with locking lid and key or the pickup bed. I can convert it to 6 volt with new proper heavy gauge starter cables with proper connectors or 12 volts your choice There is debate over the advantages and disadvantages of both volt system I am running 12 volts and added 20 feet of wire to the starter to reduce amps and volts to the initial starter torque through added resistance. Feel free to drive it CAUTION the following defects I have found remain nickle size dent in running board splash shield right side (very shallow) the top got wet during the Memorial Day parade and shrunk. It is an inch too short to fasten to the windshield posts. Club members say I can stretch it out but I have not done that yet. Magneto appears to be functioning putting out 4.5 volts AC at idle however no wiring from magneto to the cars electrical system, as car is running on battery and modern coil-distributor system . This is important if you wish to convert car from a distributor system to original 6 volt magneto and coil system. Ammeter is erratic at times in functioning last picture shows positive output There is no spare tire mount or spare tire Car is set up with a distributor as a driver - although many of us like the original 4 separate coils and timer system as originally designed. There is a lively and spirited debate between owners and experts on using 6 or 12 volts and using modern distributors and coil vs Henry's use of 4 box coils and a timer. If it does not sell, I am planning on converting it to 6 volt, original coils and timer. Reason for selling, found another Model Ts to work on. Car comes with a car cover, tool box on running board, tools, jack Ford repair manual (the black book) tips to a new owner from my experience (what NOT to do) and articles from Club members on driving the car, and taking one out of mothballs (really a great maintenance summary) extra keys and key to trunk, 1923 license plate You are bidding on the car with EITHER the pick up truck bed or the turtle back trunk with key. Other rear end will be available (I need one or the other for another Model T that has not run in years to restore but will consider selling if you want both model cars) I will continue to work on car until delivery You can keep it here covered for a month On Jul-19-10 at 06:05:25 PDT, seller added the following information: Video of car running taken yesterday (Sunday) On Jul-22-10 at 11:31:16 PDT, seller added the following information: Today I made small white paint marks on the spark advance and throttle quadrant plate. Put the levers between these white marks for quick hand starting
