I am selling my 1958 MGA. My listing, and my photos are 100% honest, I want whoever buys this car to be as happy with it as I was, PLEASE ask your questions before bidding! This is a NO RESERVE auction, I need to sell the car fairly quickly, so BID TO OWN! This car is a nice driver. It is ready to go and enjoy for the summer. Prior to listing it I have had the car gone through extensively. My mechanic was thrilled with how it is running. He did mention that the wheel cylinders on the brakes need to be done before too long to really have the car driving as it should--that said--I drove the car today and it drove wonderfully, I had no problem with the brakes and the pedal was very strong. I also noticed that there is a lot of movement in the temperature gauge, to the point where I knew it was inaccurate. The thermostat was replaced a month ago and the car runs great even after it heats up, so I assume that the car needs a sending unit. This is a no-brainer fix, just one bolt on the block and bolting the new unit back in, 10 minutes. The paint on the car is fair, there are some imperfections that I photographed as well as I could but it still shines and looks great at 10 feet. The rocker panels have been replaced, I think that the body shop molded a new piece of metal in the doorjamb and actually did quite a nice job. That said, to be right they probably need to be replaced. The engine on the car has been replaced with an MGB engine--the carbs were gone through by my mechanic and cleaned out--and as I said the car runs great. The transmission shifts smoothly and without any noise, the synchros are in great shape. The interior is quite nice, the carpets and seats have been replaced, probably 5-10 years ago because they are in nice shape. Vinyl Seats. The top is a replacement top that is in great shape but that needs to be properly attached to the top frame, right now it is just attached at the front, so it is usable but I dont believe it is correct. I do not want to be too negative, but I do want to be fair and accurate. With all the above said, this really is a wonderful car! It drives great, it looks great, and it always gets smiles and waves on the highway. A genuine driver that has tons of excitement and enjoyment to offer to its new home and new owner! This car also comes with a voluminous file of receipts and books that go back thirty years! The previous owner was remarkably detailed in their record keeping, it seems that the receipts are there for every single little gasket and seal that was purchased over that period.
