Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a 1993 Mazda RX-7. My wife and I have owned this vehicle for the last 12 years and must sell due to yet another new baby. Hello mini-van. Body/Paint: There is not a ding on this car, nor is there any rust. It has always been garaged and never raced. The car was repainted professionally in 2007 using the same factory listed silver paint as the original. Inside door frame matches perfectly to all the exterior paint. We paid $3,500 for this paint job. It is truly gorgeous. The pictures included here are of the actual car, not Mazda stock photos. They were taken a few days ago and were not enhanced or touched up in any way. What you see really is what you get. Tires/Wheels: The wheels are the standard factory alloy wheels. We’ve included close up photos so you can see that the center plastic Mazda symbols have a few very small scratches that could be fixed with a little touch-up paint. The Dunlop tires have about 50% tread left according to the last oil change at the Mazda dealer. (We have the oil changed by the dealer faithfully every 3 months and have had them perform every scheduled maintenance as recommended by Mazda’s specifications.) We purchased these tires about 3 or 4 years ago. It is driven very little and only on weekends. Interior: Black leather bucket seats with black interior. The condition of the seats is about as good as can be expected for a car of this age. It has always been maintained well. Please see pictures included here to view wear and tear. The passenger side seat is in excellent shape whereas there is a little tear in the driver’s seat (about ½ inch). It can easily be fixed. Both the front and rear windshields are the original glass and are in good condition with no cracks, chips or scratches. Electrical: The battery and alternator were replaced this year. The headlights, parking lights, blinkers, hazards, reverse lights, instrument panel lights, dome lights, trunk light, license plate housing light and the keyhole light all work properly. Horn and windshield wipers work as does everything else in the car: CD/radio/cassette player, power windows, power mirrors, power antenna, power locks, cruise control, rear defrost windshield, heat, and wonderful air conditioning. Engine : The engine was replaced with a brand new (not rebuilt) engine in 2004. It is the same as the original 1.3 liter rotary engine. Twin turbo was also replaced (at the same time as the engine) with another brand new twin turbo (not rebuilt). The new engine and new turbo cost $14,500 to replace. The mileage on the current engine is 19,000 miles. The mileage on the odometer is 119,000 miles. The transmission was replaced with a brand new transmission the following year (2005). (We think that cost 2 or 3 thousand dollars although we cannot honestly remember what we paid for the transmission.) Summary: Overall this car is in excellent condition and drives beautifully. We have tried our best to explain with all integrity every aspect of this vehicle and what you should expect when purchasing it. This car is and has been very gratifying to own. We often receive enthusiastic comments on the car virtually every time we take it for a spin. Many people don’t even know what it is. (Usually they think it is a Porsche or some exotic sports car.) This beauty isn’t all that common on the road these days which has made owning it a memorable experience. We’re really going to hate parting with it. In addition to the regularly scheduled oil changes and scheduled maintenance, we have invested over $23,000 for a new engine, new twin turbo, new transmission, new paint, and new alternator and battery. This car is ready to roll and should provide many years of driving enjoyment. Delivery: The car can be shipped at the buyer's expense, driven, or towed using a full car trailer. Terms: $1000 deposit due within 24 hours of close of auction, remainder due via Certified Funds within 7 days unless prior arrangements are made. The vehicle is advertised locally and being offered as is. We reserve the right to end the auction early at any time. Questions? If you have any questions or would like to see the vehicle in person, please let us know.On Jul-11-10 at 13:49:08 PDT, seller added the following information: ADDENDUM: I am selling this car for a friend, and accidentally left out a few items in the above description: 1) Under "Electrical" I forgot to point out that the car's factory-built Auto Theft Alarm works (as well as all the other electrical devices on the car). 2) The auction title--which I cannot amend once the auction is posted--says "1st owner," but this is incorrect--my friend is the 2nd owner, and when the engine was replaced in the car, they changed loans, this time in his wife's name. This is why in the vehicle report there is an "item" listed under the loan/lien section. I can assure you they have the title for the vehicle, and it is free and clear.
