I usually do most of my own work on my vehicles, which made the Carrera so appealing. In spite of its tight construction and elegant engineering, this is a simple, accessible, and inexpensive car to maintain. Unlike most eBay sellers, I do NOT state that each sale is final. I'm confident that this car, which has received my loving car for the past 3 years, will meet the scrutiny of the most discerning buyer. I have a 100% satisfaction rating as a long-time eBay buyer and seller. After the eBay auction closes, the winner will have the option of inspecting this car first hand, and can choose to reject the sale if desired.. at which point I will cheerfully refund the deposit, less any direct eBay listing fees I've incurred. (Inspection would need to be accomplished PRIOR to shipment, of course) If you are an out-of-town buyer, I will be happy to meet you with the car at Austin International airport, and/or assist in arranging car shipping as needed. Phil Auldridge (512) 517-0055 AUSTIN, TEXAS see additional photos below DESCRIPTION Are you looking for the absolute best classic Porsche 911 convertible? THIS is the one!! I am reluctantly having to part with my favorite-of-all-times Porsche. I have enjoyed and pampered this car during my stewardship over the past 3 years. Given the age, this car has remarkably low original miles, amounting to an average of less than 5,000 miles per year since new (I've personally put just 13,000 miles in slightly over 3 years). My wife and I currently own 10 vehicles, all long-term "keepers". I swear, of all our vehicles, ranging from a pristine 1939 Ford Coupe to a 1965 Corvette convertible, this Porsche gets the most consistent attention in the parking lot! Sadly, it has to go in favor of my foolish purchase of a 1951 Hudson Hornet. We're out of extra cash, and out of covered parking space. (Don't worry, the neighbor's garage is serving as temporary shelter to keep all out of the weather). Most experts agree that the 1989 964 Carrera model represents the absolute pinnacle of Porsche air-cooled design and performance. 1989 marked the last of the 964 pure classic body style. The 3.2 litre 6 cylinder engine is considered bullet-proof, as is the final version of the G50 manual 5-speed transmission. The simple yet effective design of the 964 model made it easy and simple to maintain and repair: non-digital gauges, no power steering pump, no radiator or water pump, no digital displays to wear out, etc. It is clear that the market value for this model of Porsche has reached it's lower limit, and that well-kept examples such as this one will continue to increase in value, along with the slightly older vintages of the same model. This particular car is in absolute pristine, original condition. It has always been garaged, never purposefully taken out in the rain, rarely left out in the sun during the day, and never smoked in. The original paint is stunning. There is but one single parking lot door ding, in an unnoticeable place, on the entire car. Every single component on this car functions exactly when as it left the factory: all engine gauges, cruise control, electric seats and mirrors, wipers, A/C, clock, lights, etc. Porsche's factory paint jobs put all the other luxury cars to shame. The interior is indistinguishable from new. The beautiful black leather is as supple as when it came from the factory, and is absolutely unmarked by a single scratch or blemish. The dash surfaces, both upper and lower, are in perfect condition. The carpeting, both the original and the special 911 logo mats, are perfect and unsoiled. The convertible top (and boot cover) are as new.. no rips, abrasions or discoloration. The plastic convertible window is clear and scratch-free. I can honestly say that my ownership of this car has been without any serious mechanical issues. However, I have recently completed a number of enhancements that add to the value of this vehicle: Higher capacity A/C compressor added to compensate for high-temperature Texas summers. This was in addition to a super efficient evaporator core, all new barrier A/C hoses, special recirculating receiver-drier, and installation of an electronic fully variable fan speed control (to replace the air-flow-robbing and inefficient stock 3-position switch). For you purists, I do have the originally removed compressor, evaporator, and fan switch, all in excellent working order. New correct tires (less than 1,000 miles since installation) Front boot (hood) storage area has beautiful carpeting Polished strut stiffening bar installed under hood Special leather-wrapped smaller diameter steering wheel installed, with Porsche logo horn button Brushed aluminum cockpit trim installed, including door threshold plates Upgraded FM/AM/CD player integrated into dash Internal ignition-switched power connector for dash-mounted radar detector (provide your own detector of choice) Turbo style wheels in immaculate condition except for one single scratch on one wheel Recent valve adjustment completed, and silicone cam cover gaskets used. Physically, other than a few small pin-spot gravel nicks on the front facia, too small to even touch up, I'm only aware of two small items: 1) the right rear wheel got a small 2" scratch from some source in the past, 2) the passenger door has one very small (dime-sized) dimple at the very lowest part of the door (no paint has been scratched or removed). I didn't discover this dimple myself until I had owned the car a year, so it is very unnoticeable, and too small to show up in any photo. This car runs and handles like new. The transmission synchros are perfect, providing smooth and easy upshifts and downshifts. There is not a hint of play in the steering system, and the suspension is tight and solid, as are the shocks. The only failing of this car is the feeling of invincibility one gets at the wheel. The driver starts believing there is NO corner that can't be handled at any speed! To my knowledge, this car has never been tracked or raced, nor is there any evidence of any collision damage or repair, paint touch up, or the slightest spec of rust anywhere on the car, above or underneath. It has never dripped a single drop of oil (as evidenced by the under-car photos), and has never required more than a quart of oil top up between oil changes (always synthetic oil). This is a car that is just ready to hit the road and give the next owner many happy years and miles of Porsche pleasure. EXTRAS: I enjoy caring for and maintaining my own vehicles. I find an owner does a much more careful job than some grease monkey down at the local gas station. I've changed the oil and filter religiously every 5,000 miles (always synthetic oil). Additionally, I recently flushed the entire brake system with ATE BLUE brake fluid. And, as mentioned above, the valve clearances were carefully adjusted less than 1,000 miles ago, and valve cover gaskets replaced with non-leak silicone ones. I always like to have common maintenance parts on hand for future jobs. To that end, the car will be accompanied with the following new parts in boxes: a brand new set of front brake rotors and disc pads, fuel and oil filter, and master fuel system relay (I've never had a relay problem, but sources say this is one of the few malfunction-prone components on this model, so I like to be prepared).
