Vehicle Detail

i bought this lexus 6 months ago. i did the following: new battery, new brakes, new steering u-joint, new floor mats. the car is in ok condition, not the nicest lexus around, but respectible. looks good from 10+ feet. with a little detailing, it could be much better. i'm just too lazy...my loss, your gain. mechanically, the car runs strong. i drive it daily, sometimes to nyc (100 miles) and boston (125). the a/c is cold, all the electronics work (except heated seats...fuse?). comfortable leather seats, set the cruise and enjoy the ride. check engine light's been on since i got it. had it checked...nothing important. for buy it now, i'll get it taken care of. issues: rear bumper looks like it was painted with a brush...have no idea why. half the exhaust system is shot, but it runs quiet enough. bad repaint...i didn't care, looks ok. pluses: power sunroof! good after market sound system with aux jack. low miles...good carfax. good tires. passed ny state inspection 5 months ago. drive as is, or repaint and detail for a nice lexus that'll run for years. no rust evident. no dents, nothing else i can think of. my reserve is $1700. that's about half what a real nice one would cost. i'm in upstate ny, near amtrak. come by train, drive home.On Jun-26-10 at 23:54:45 PDT, seller added the following information: actually, the paint looks pretty good, except for the rear bumper (as noted) and the hood (paint looks weather-worn). shines up nice, no dents. if i were you...i think i'd buy it (my reserve is $1700), touch up the paint issues, detail it, drive it for a year or two...and then sell it for $2000! because it'll always be worth that, as long as it runs. the engine alone, with 142K on it, is probably worth $1K. just drove it 100 miles yesterday...trouble free! like i say, this car will run for a long time, and it's a great ride!
