Vehicle Detail

1980 MGB - Original Paint and Interior with 42K original miles with overdrive. This classic convertible is in excellent condition with zero rust history. No touch ups were made so bidder can appreciate the true condition of this car. The following items have been replaced: Convertible top, tires, complete brake system, radiator, thermostat and hoses, complete tune up (engine was painted flat black as the original red paint was faded), and all fluids were changed. Note: I think the carburater and exhaust manifold are aftermarket upgrades but the car has the original exhaust and converter. Car comes with the original window sticker when purchased new in 1980, spare tire and tool kit, original owners manual and two other boot covers. Negatives: There are several very small dings and rock chips in the paint (see attached picture with dime adjacent to rock chip). The clock does not keep accurate time. The pollution air pump is missing. When you fill up with gas, the gauge will only read to three-quarters, but works fine after that. The new air filter is not a perfect fit, but works. This little car is ready for summer fun... this car runs great and the overdrive works perfectly! Additional pictures can be sent to serious buyers. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at 931-205-3332. Car must be picked up at my home. Clear title is on-hand; however, payment must be in full and comfirmed before the car leaves my garage. On Jun-17-10 at 11:46:27 PDT, seller added the following information:Due to calls of which I am happy to reply to: There are no cracks in dash, there are no rips in seats etc... I would rate the condition of the car more to that of a car 3 years old than 30. There never has been a rust issue-Period. This is a Southern garage kept car that appears to have an excellent factory undercoat. Yes, the wheels are spoke and tires and top etc... are in new condition. Reason for selling: is simply that we have horses, boats etc.. and do not use it. However, if winning bidder is not happy after test driving it- then he/she does not have to buy it. The car is not a "show car"- it is an excellent 30 year old-good mileage convertible that is safer than a motorcycle that will increase in value. Best wishes biddingOn Jun-21-10 at 15:08:03 PDT, seller added the following information: I am including these additional pictures as requested. Also, a new battery was installed during the spring tune up and new sun visors were installed as the old ones were sagging. Based on several emails and phone calls, I want all to know that any parts that I've replaced on this car was a proactive approach to maintain safety and dependability (old radiator and hoses are still good and will be included with the car at time of sale). One of the newly added pictures shows the car's gauges at idle--the oil pressure is over 50 pounds and the car averages around 25 to 30 mpg. Original red owners manual & 1980 window sticker are included but not shown in photos. Thank you, M. RayOn Jun-24-10 at 07:59:01 PDT, seller added the following information: There has been several emails informing me that the intake manifold, carb, and exhaust header are upgrades that MG drivers prefer. ( I do not have the original parts) several bidders have asked about long distance driving. The car is in excellent running condition so with the overdrive allowing Interstate speeds, there is no reason why it couldn't be driven cross country. There hsa been several questions about price: I have lowered reserve from $6,800 to $5,900. If it doesn't sell as a 25 mpg rust free original condition convertible with 3k of new parts - I'll use it for a everyday driver. On Jun-28-10 at 16:34:26 PDT, seller added the following information: With 24 hours left on my last listing, let me respond to the low offers & trade offers if the car does not sell: No thanks, we are simply going to start using it as a gas saving daily driver. To those MG owners who own a car similar to mine: I have done a lot of research to keep mine in good running condition and I recommend Moss Motors. Here is what I was told to keep these cars fun: 1. Keep your cooling system clean & in good order & check cooling fan relay that it is working etc... 2. If you have the stock carbs, watch for choke stick flooding as it has been cause of fires. 3. Never let the wiring system get wet and carry a "spare ignition relay switch". ( There are 2 mounted on each side of the fuse box and they are interchangable. If one goes out- your tach, gauges, turn signels etc... will stop working. The other runs the car engine so keep a spare in the glove box). 4. Never tow the spoke wheel cars backwards. Enjoy the summer, Mike
