Vehicle Detail
1972 Lincoln Continental Mark IV NO RESERVE!!!These are some of my favorite Lincolns of all time, big, beautiful, luxury all wrapped into one. This is the 1st year of the Lincoln Mark IV, and they just ride beautifully down the highway, I know someone has road trip on the mind. I really expect this car to end up in Europe, the last 4 Lincoln Mark Series cars have all went over to Europe, they know a true road car when they see it. This car has spent all of its life in the Willamette Valley, around Scio, Oregon. Bought new in Albany, Oregon. It is great here, because we have very mild winters, and cool summers, and we do not salt the roads, explaining the shape of this Ol' Mark IV. The original owner sold it to a good friend of his and he drove it for many years as his driver. He could no longer drive it anymore due to his health and age, so I got the Lincoln from his family. The odometer reads 47,752, it has rolled only once. I have a bunch of early receipts, registrations, have the original owners manual, warranty cards, etc. The body on the car is in excellant shape, it has been repainted about 15 years ago. The clear coat on the hood, tops of the fenders and on top of doors is coming off, so someone will want to have the top areas repainted, or have the whole car repainted. It was not a high dollar paint job back then, just something quick to make it look nice. I debated for a bit, if I would paint it, I have been driving it around a lot around town, and on short 60 mile trips here and there, it feels great out on the open road. I was going to have the top of the hood, fenders, and doors along the body line, painted a different color to give it a 2 tone look, but never did. I found another summer cruiser, so this one is up for sale. The only rust that I can see on the exterior, is a bubble on the rear truck lid, passengerside. There is a bubble on the hood front passenger corner. There is a little small bubble on the edge of the drivers door as well. Overall the car is very sound, underneath looks in great shape, no rust in the trunk, drop off pans look great, rockers are great, and so is frame. Overall the paint just needs a good freshen up, there are a few little minor dings, and a few light scratches on the passengerside, see pictures. The Vinyl top is in great shapae. The bumpers are very nice, and most of all the trim is in very good shape. The wheel lip mouldings have a few dings in them. The headlight doors, open and close with ease, and they stay down when it is not running, which is a good thing, tells me that the vacuum canisters are good. The grill is very nice, and all the lights work. Overall, a very good sound car for someone to take to the next level.Interior is all original, you got to love the original plush carpet, in very good shape. The dash pad is excellant, no cracks no warps etc. The seats are original, and in very good shape. A few of the little button caps are missing, on on the drivers seat bottom, and 2 in the back seat. There is one little 1/2" tear on the drivers seat back on the lumbar. The headliner is in good shape, but has a 1" cut in it, on the passengerside rear, see picture. All the gauges work, Radio works (not sure if 8 track works, do not have a tape to try it, it probably does though). All the dome lights work, clock does not. All the little lights on the dash work, Low Fuel, Door Ajar etc. It has dual power seats and they both work good. The windows roll down good, the rear quarter window passenger works correctly, and moves back about 3"s like it should, (They are not supposed to roll all the way back), but the drivers quarter window is not working. The door panels are in good shape. The drivers door panel arm rest area needs to be repaired, it has been reinforced, but it is not staying attached good to the door panel, it is currently screwed. You can not really tell, by looking, but if you feel it or pull on it, it feels loose. Overall the interior is in very nice shape for a used classic car, that has not been restored. It does have factory AC, it is not work, the belt is off it currently, pump is free, but noticed the front pulley, rubber on front of the AC clutch is cracked. The engine runs very good, starts right up, and sounds great. It has good acceleration, and drives very nice. It does not burn any oil or blow any smoke, which is good. Oil looks good, and water looks good as well. This is the original 460 V8, Factory 4V engine. The transmission is an automatic and works great. I did notice that the kick down rod is not hooked up for passing gear, it is there, just not hooked up, might have just came off not sure, it is zip tied. The brakes seem to work good. I have put about 1000 miles on it in the last couple months, and it is just a hoot to drive, it gets all different kind of looks, depending on the neighborhood you are in. It has very good tires on it, with about 90% tread. If you want to fly in and drive it home, I believe it will make it pretty much anywhere you want to drive it. Remember it is an old car, so anything could happen, good thing is any autoparts store will have most of the mechanical stuff in stock, very easy to work on, and the 460 was a great motor for Ford and Mercury for many years. Again, this is not a trailer queen, this is a nice affordable classic car, that you can enjoy, and work on as you go. It will need paint down the road, due to the clear coat coming off of hood, tops of fenders, doors, and a little spot on the rear simulated spare tire hump on the trunk lid. The rear tailight lens, are in very good shape, no cracks, the front turnsignal lens are nice as well, but some condensation gets in as you can see.
