1980 Honda CX500

Here is my 1980 CX500D(Deluxe) for sale. I am the owner of the bike and I have a clear Pa. title in my name so there will be no problems at time of purchase. Here's the story: The bike starts right up and runs great but only with the choke out. Not sure why. I haven't ridden it since last year and it ran great then. Carbs were clean at that time. May need to be run more? Last year I had the internal mechanical seal and oil seal replaced by J & B Honda of Bloomsburg, Pa. Those who know these motors know that a "weeping" mechanical seal is a common problem. This one is fixed and fixed right, so no problems for the new owner. The tank has a red coating that is peeling. Don't know why it was coated in the first place because the tank looks good inside and from the outside appearance, it's obvious there were no leaks. Maybe precaution on the previous owner's part? The left fork ear is broken. I have a nice replacement for it with turn signal included. Tires hold air but look weathered. Should probably be replaced. Now the good: Tank is in great shape, straight and no dents. Minor chips and scratches, as to be expected with age and miles. Sidecovers are solid, no breaks or missing tabs. Some chips on pinstriping. Seat is soft and pliable, no rips or tears or splits. Gauges all work. Face plates are clean and not faded. All lights work. There's an air gauge for the forks. Brakes work. Master cylinders are in great shape. All the chrome looks good. Shines nice. Tools included, no tool bag.(Available online). Sticker still on plastic tool box. All switches work. Starter button works. Horn works. Tire pressure sticker intact and readable on rear cowl. All cables and hoses soft and pliable. Exhaust has no leaks or holes. Very solid all around. Mufflers are solid with no holes. The chrome on the mufflers is very nice but there are patches of what looks like silver paint on the top where the passenger footpegs are. Radiator is clean and no leaks anywhere in coolant system. Coolant tank is clean and no cracks. Water tube is clean and good chrome. I have tried to describe the bike to the best of my ability and would hope that the pictures help tell the story. Please look close. Supersize and zoom in. I will answer any questions you have and will take additional pics if necessary. I prefer local pick up but will gladly ship if buyer makes the arrangements. I now know what people love about them. I bought it on a whim and was pleasantly surprised at the power, feel and especially sound of the CX500. I thought I would keep it myself, but I'm in pursuit of a sport tourer and need to thin out my herd. Rather see a fan of these bikes get it to enjoy it.
