Vehicle Detail
Drive into summer fun with confidence in this 1982 air conditioned VW Vanagon Westfalia Camper. It’s ready - and within the previous 3,000 miles has had extensive replacement of appearance and critical parts - like all four new Bilstein shocks. Up front there’s a new windshield, a new grill, new GoWesty front and rear steel bumpers. Underneath, up front, there are new upper and lower ball joints, tie rod ends, new steering rod ends (with new boots and, of course, new alignment), new brake calipers, disks and pads. Going aft, underneath, there’s a new fuel tank, new fuel filter, new fuel pump and new shoes on the brakes. CV joints have been professionally cleaned and lubed and new boots installed at both the CV and axle ends. The 2.0 air cooled engine was completely overhauled, new starter, new spark plugs, new coil and new engine compartment surround seals. New steel dual mufflers and new rear hatch shock struts bring up the rear. Up top, the pop up and baggage fiberglass bodies have new seals. The pop top canvas is in useable but there’s a brand new canvas top tossed in for free (a $400 value). Inside it’s all original, seats, cushions, mattress pads and carpets are all in good to excellent condition with no rips or tears. Other than proving the fridge works on external 110 V, I’ve never used the fridge, stove and sink but they are meticulously clean. An added attraction is the CD/DVD/Stereo with four speakers and an in-dash screen. A drop down screen in the rear serves back seat riders. The van was professionally painted at a body shop and there are no rust spots and no damage - the only known accident occurred 14 years ago and was described as minor resulting only in a crumpled up rear bumper.
