Up for auction is a 1966 Mercedes Benz 230SL. I have owned this car for eight years and done a lot of mechanical work on it. The car had been sitting under a tarp in a garage, after a fresh paint job, for twenty five years. The owner had left the tank half full of gas, so this required a lot of new stuff to get gas flowing again. This car has great potential, however needs a lot of tender love and care. I’ve patched the floor boards with a temporary fix as the need to be replaced. There is rust along the front fenders on both sides about half way down along the hood. I’ve attached pictures showing this. Some paint bubbles along the rear wheel wells. Again pictured have been attached. This car gets driven almost every day, at least a few miles. I also have the detachable hard top which is in fair shape. I also have a Becker radio that fits the SL, I just don’t have the expertise to install it and I think there might be a plate missing. I have the other chrome, along with the mounting hardware, that goes down the side. I have a lot of spare parts, some which are nos. Below is a list of the item that have been fixed or replaced: Fuel: Fuel pump, fuel lines both to and from fuel tank, fuel tank was sent off and restored to original, and injection pump inspected and repaired as necessary. Brakes: New wheel cylinders, brake pads and power booster. Engine: Rear main seal, along with all bearings other seals, as the crank had to be removed to replace the rear seal. Top: New cloth top. I know this car is no where near worth the 19-40K retail, however it could be with a lot of hard work and time. I have too many other hobbies to devote the time, and of course money, to make it what is should be. Ebay will only allow 24 pictures.
