Vehicle Detail
Beautiful 1971 Chevy 1/2 ton 4x4 fleetside pickup. It's hard to express how beautiful this truck looks and how wonderful it drives. I will do my best to describe this truck both accurately and honestly. I will start with the outside. This truck started its life as an original shortbed 4x4. It is not a long bed that has been shortened. It has been an Arizona truck its whole life, so it was pretty rust free to start with. The rockers and cab corners were the only thing that needed attention. Body was stripped in and out and repainted a Corvette color called Victory Red. The original color of the truck was red, but it was a little too orange for me. This is a deep red. The base coat clear coat was then color sanded and buffed to a beautiful shine. The paint is about 1 1/2 years old. All new reproduction exterior trim was then put on. Including, bumpers, upper and lower moldings with woodgrain on the bottom. Side marker lights, grill, Cheyenne Super emblems, door handles, tailgate band and trim, blinker lenses and housings on front, lenses rear, new windshield and rear window with new rubber and stainless trim, new window felts and vent window rubber. Of course the body was mounted using new body, bed and radiator support mounts. The glove box did not have the build sheet in it, so I cannot say if it was originally a Cheyenne Super. It had all Super emblems with it but in old shape. Interior: As you can see the interior is beautiful also. All the gauges work. The dash has not been cut and sports an am/fm cassette radio with speakers mounted in the aftermarket kick panels. Sounds nice. All new aftermarket bezels, new dash pad, door panels, handles, glove box liner, steering wheel and horn pad. New rubber around doors. The seats are out of a 2009 Honda mini van. They fit great in the truck and give you more legroom than the stock seat and they come with a center console that not only provides you with more storage and cupholders, but can be converted to hold a third passenger. The seat backs were modified some to give maximum legroom. They do need to be stitched yet, but you cannot see unless you tilt seat forward. I installed 3 point seat belts for the 2 front seats and lap belts for the middle passenger. The seats sit on custom mounts that are fully adjustable. The carpet is also new. By the way, I also insulated the doors and the whole cab. I'm retired and like my quiet and luxury. It made the truck quiet and the cab is solid and rattle free. Doors close with a very solid feel rather than a tinny sound. Mechanical: According to the previous owner the 350 motor was rebuilt approximately 4000 miles ago along with the smooth shifting turbo 350 automatic transmission. I do not have documentation of this, but the motor runs top notch, uses no oil and no smoke. The distributor is a high energy electronic GM unit. The 205 transfer case works well with the exception of a slight leak at the front output seal. The motor stays cool even the hot Arizona summers with a manually controlled dual electric fan setup. Never a problem, even in 110 degree heat. I believe the gearing to be in the 3:70 range. Good on the highway. Both front and rear axles are quiet and leak free. New dual exhaust with flowmaster 40's. I recently put a new drag link on the front end. All other front end parts are tight. The gas tank was relocated to the rear between the frame rails. It is a 25 gallon tank. I upgraded the brakes with a 1 ton booster and master cylinder. Wow does that make a difference. Stops on a dime. New brake pads on front and new brakes and hardware on rear. It rides on 20 inch American racing rims with new Goodyear Wrangler ATS tires. Size 275/65/20. The tires provide a very nice ride and are quiet yet aggressive. When I got the truck it had a 4 inch rough country lift on it. I couldn't stand the ride so I pulled a few of the harsh riding leafs out. That took it down about 2 inches. I then mounted airbags on all 4 corners to lift it back up. Wow what a difference. It is so much softer riding and I feel much more in control. It also gives you the flexibility of adjusting your ride height if you want. You can go back down 2 inches (but these tires will rub) or go up about 4 more inches. It will ride stiffer if you go up that far. The airbags ride at 18psi now so they are soft. The bags I got were rated for a much larger capacity than I need so they are hardly working. I custom made all brackets and bolted them in so it could be put back to stock. I have all leaf springs that I took out and will be included in the sale. I built this truck to drive, but it has come out so nice you could show it if you wanted to. I didn't detail the engine compartment during the process. I guess this would be my only regret. This is a wow truck that someone will get for a reasonable price. Clear title. Questions? Just ask. My reserve is reasonable, but please don't ask that question. I have a real nice set of rally wheels that I will include also. Thanks
