Vehicle Detail

This is a 1970 Fiat Spyder, red/black in great condition. I have had it for about 5 years, and mainly used it for Sunday drives with the kids. It has been well cared for through out its life and comes with extensive maintenance records, which goes back to 1983. In 1983, transmission was rebuilt. In 1984, valve adjustment and camshafts. In 1987, valve job, used differential, rear shocks, alternator. In '89, original engine was replaced with newly rebuilt 1800cc engine. In 1992, paint job. In '95 (65,375 miles), new clutch assembly, reseal transmission, and ball joints. In 2002 (74,899 miles), extensive mechanical and suspension restoration including, timing belt, tensioner, water pump, front and rear engine seal, marelli-plex ignition, performance weber carburetor, performance header, exhaust, front suspension rebuild (total cost was $3500). I picked it up in 2005 (78,200), and overall the car was in excellent mechanical condition. The paint was fading in places so the car was re-painted. Even though it was a California/Texas car, there was evidence of some fiberglass around rear wheel arches on both sides as well as some bondo along the lower part of the car, which was replaced with metal. The car has been strictly garaged for the last five years and sparingly used, therefore the paint remains pristine without any bubbling whatsoever, as the close up pictures of the lower body shows. At the last oil change, my mechanic and I carefully looked over the underbody and everything is solid except for small rust spot on the flat part of the square bracket which makes up the left front jack point (which still holds up well) and can be spot welded by your local exhaust shop. Mechanically, it starts up easily, hot or cold. It idles smoothly, revs up all the way up the rpm without any hiccups. It can be driven 80 mph all day long with temp gauge holding in the middle no matter traffic condition. It handles smoothly and ride is supple, and car tracts straight. Brake works well as does parking brake. Calipers have been all changed at one point and pads are plenty. It has sporty Panasport wheels with 185/70/14 Goodyear front, BFGoodrich rear, tread near new. The exhaust sounds throaty with performance headers and middle exhaust delete without sounding too loud. All gauges work except fuel gauge. All electronics work. Seats have been reupholstered at one time with small stititching done on passenger seat (look at picture). There is small chip in the windshield which has never changed in shape. I have added seat belts for rear seats for cruising with my kids. All in all, it is a turnkey car with plenty of soul, which can be enjoyed in any speed. A ride with top down on a balmy summer evening is always a memorable experience. I am selling the car because my kids are all grown up and can't fit in the back seat. The car will be sold at "no reserve" in spirit of real style auction. I do have the car for sale locally and reserve the right to end auction early. Please ask all questions before bidding. There is no warranties whatsoever, implied or inferred. Good Luck with auction
