Vehicle Detail

You are bidding on a 1980 Ford Fairmont station wagon. I looked long and hard for a clean survivor wagon with AC, and I finally found one. Unfortunately, I was laid off shortly after buying this car. I hate to sell it because this is the cleanest fox body wagon I've ever seen in person, and I fear I'll never find one this clean again, but I just don't have the time or money to build it the way I want. I've had a lot of fairmonts with SBF windsor swaps, and even one with a 2.3 turbo EFI swap. My plans for this one was a Duramax diesel with a built 4L85E, but it's just not in the cards for me I'm affraid. This car has 43,421 miles on it. It had under 42k miles on it when I bought it, but it was driven from Santa Barbara, CA to Houston by way of Dallas!!! The car ran/drove just fine without any problems. I charged the AC when I got it home, and the AC DOES BLOW COLD!!!!!!!!!!!! The only body damage is a slight bend on the corner of the rear hatch. I tried to show the damage in the pictures. It's hardly noticable. The car really does look sharp all over. This car has an interesting set of options. It has power windows, power door locks, vent windows, AC, tilt steering wheel, and a POWER BENCH SEAT. I've never seen a Fairmont wagon optioned out like that. 99% of people out there don't really pay these cars any mind, but as you're well aware, the Fairmont was the FIRST fox body vehicle starting in 1978. My 81 fairmont wagon weighed 2865lbs with an iron headed 302 and bench seat! They're really a fun foundation for a cool sleeper project, and this one is clean enough and has low enough miles that it could be left alone and enjoyed as-is. I bought this car from the 2nd owner, it is in amazing condition. The interior is beautiful, the plastics are in great shape. If you've looked at many Fairmonts, you know that the plastics are usually destroyed from the sun's UV. The dash pad is cracked, but not very bad, and there are aftermarket covers readily available that look just like an OEM dash. All the bells and whistles work on this car. The only "issue" it has is the carburetor wanted to close the choke for some reason. I bought a factory Motorcraft NOS carburetor off of ebay, and in the mean-time, I zip-tied the choke open, and it runs/drives so well, I have not been motivated to install the new carb. The new carburetor comes with the car. The car came with factory chrome fender lips and regular Fairmont hubcaps. I removed them (they're in perfect shape and come with the car) and installed factory dog dish hubcaps as I prefer the "poverty cap" look. This thing has a FACTORY APPLIED California Emissions Levels certification sticker!!! You can see it in one of the pictures. This sticker was applied 30yrs ago and the old lady that owned the car just never removed it! The 2nd owner installed an aftermarket CD player, but I removed it because I didn't want anyone breaking into the car for a $200 head unit. I have the clear title, the factory ALUMINUM ignition and door keys are in very good shape and come with the car. I've got a lot of paperwork that came with the vehicle. It's obviously been well taken care of its entire life. It still has the original blue Cali license plates on it! This really is a rare survivor. There is no reserve on this auction. The starting bid is considerably less than what I have in it. I think the car is worth every bit of what I paid and more, but I realize that it's only worth that much to very few people, so I'm pricing it to sell. For any less, I will just keep the car. I can pick you up at Houston International or Houston Hobby airport. You can drive this car anywhere. Like I said, it drove from Santa Barbara to Houston by way of Dallas! I have put very few miles on it since. I drive it once every couple weeks and get it up to full operating temp just to keep everything lubed up. I will also help load the car if you want to have it shipped. You're not going to find another one this clean with AC. Due to previous experience with non paying bidders, PLEASE CONTACT ME BEFORE BIDDING!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are welcome to snipe the auction at the last minute, but PLEASE CONTACT ME FIRST!!!! Please email me with any questions you may have. If you include your phone number, I will call you back at your convenience or I can email you my phone number. Vehicle is not being listed anywhere but ebay, so bid with confidence that if you are the high bidder, you will be the new owner of this sweetheart. Thanks for looking, I hope the car goes to a fellow Fairmont enthusiast
