Vehicle Detail
Re-listed due to buyer not knowing his importation laws. Please be serious about this and know you can make the transaction happen before you bid, it will save your time and mine. Thankyou. Reserve has been lowered. Normal 0 0 1 228 1301 10 2 1597 11.773 0 0 0 1987 Syncro Vanagon with 229,000 miles and extra camping features added Camping Features include: Propane tank from Westy installed underneath, stove, sink, folding bed, some of the storage from the Westy. The body is straight with very little rust if any. There are tiny spots along some seems but it is very minimal. Front tires are new, back tires are older but still half the tread is there. There has been some touch up paint added to the passenger side, it is noticeable in certain light. You can just make it out in the photo. The Power Steering does not work. Maybe a leak in the system. It did not bother me enough to get it fixed. A wheel stud has been twisted off in one of the back tires, so there are only 4 lugs there, NAPA quoted me 40 bucks for the fix. Engine is of unknown mileage but starts runs and drives just fine. Recent compression test revealed "good" compression by VW mechanics. All cylinders were from 95-110 PSI. Previous owner mentioned an electrical glitch that happens occasionally where the engine coughs and loses some power after sustained driving but when the engine is shut off and restarted the problem goes away. He said this happened to him a handful of times owning it for 6 years or so. Transmission appears to run smooth, low gear works, and the rear wheel lockout functions with a vacuum switch. This allows the rear differential to lock and ables the driver to "crawl" out of almost anything(mud, snow, etc.). There has been an aftermarket sunroof installed, a DYI project that does not leak at the moment but could use some attention. The suggestion I would make for this vehicle is to install a High-Top or a Pop-top onto the van. The interior is in used condition with no major faults besides some rips and tears in the upholstery. The rear windshield washer does not work and the hydraulics to keep the the very back door open need replacement (maybe 40 bucks a pair). I have taken the van on trips as did the previous owner, and I could say this van will drive anywhere, but there is never a guarantee of that with any used car of course. The vehicle is sold AS IS. The reserve price is set lower than most Syncros go for because of what is listed above. If you can put a little TLC into it, it is a good price for a working Syncro. Please email with questions. This Van is on Orcas Island in the northwest corner of Washington State. Know that when bidding. Shipping can be arranged. I expect 1,000 dollars down into PayPal within 3 days of auction ending. Thankyou, and good luck.
