Lotus Super 7 This hand built 2/3rd scale Lotus Super 7 of the late 1950's/60's racing era was the creation of the late Michael Bogardus, a a well know magazine illustrator and avid European motorcycle/car collector. Mr. Bogardus is best known for many of his Porsche racing illustrations. Please know, this Lotus is NOT a kit car but a one-off car and is the only one known in existence as the molds were destroyed after completion, per his surviving wife. Featured in Hemmings Sports & Exotic Car Magazine, May 2007, the car is very detailed in many aspects similar to the real Lotus Super 7, including a space frame but without front or rear suspension. It is powered by a front mounted eight-horsepower engine with chain driven rear wheel drive through a torque converter. Rear brakes are BMW motorcycle calipers over nine-inch rotors. Body is all fiberglass finished in basecoat, clearcoat BRG and yellow urethane. “Minilite” wheels are eight-inch steel wheels with cast fiberglass inserts and I am told it runs up to 45 mph. After Mr. Bogardus death, this and one other of his 2/3 car creations, a Porsche 550 Spyder, were put into storage until this spring. Car was said to have run very well but it should be known that it has been sitting just over 2 years. The body is in excellent condition and was driven very little. Paint is very good but there is some minor chips along the bottom of the body and a small tire mark on the right rear fender that would probably rub out. No rust as this car was always garage kept. Other features of the car include working headlights, taillights and gauges. Measurements of the exterior is 87” long by 47” wide with a passenger compartment measuring 33” front to rear.
