This Mercedes Smart is probably the most unique on the market. I purchased this Smart in January of 2006 to keep at my vacation house in Canada. Since Mercedes only sold the Smart in Canada at the time, it was equipped with the Mercedes .8 liter turbo diesel with common rail injection that gets 70 MPG! I ordered the top of the line Passion convertible and decided to add all the Brabus accessories which include body panels, interior trim, paddle shifters, special wheels and performance tires. I liked the metallic silver exterior combined with the Bungee Red interior which is a striking combination and a real head turner. I installed a top of the liner Pioneer receiver/entertainment unit which includes touch screen, DVD/NAV/CD. I kept the original rims and installed Blizzard snow tires which I will include with the sale. Other options include the scan gauge unit to monitor engine performance. I just added a tuning module on the injectors to increase performance without sacrificing mpg. Car has always been garaged and is in like new condition and always Mercedes serviced. The most exciting about my Smart Car is that it now registered/titled in the US and can be sold in ANY state. Car is currently registered in Tennessee and since this Smart is a diesel there are no emissions requirements for inspection. What separates this Mercedes Smart model 450 to the ones that are sold now is the engine is a Mercedes diesel and not a Mitsubishi gas engine and mine gets much better mileage and is better engineered. My model is also smaller in width and length but has all safety features like front/side airbags, ABS, and electronic stability control. I drive this car on the highway at 80MPH and feel completely safe. It is built like a race car with a crash cell surrounding the driver with a built in rollbar and the driver/passenger sit high so you feel like you are in a larger car. I am 6-'2" and I do not keep the seat all the way to the back. Luggage space is sufficient for three bags for traveling. Also the Mercedes transmission is unique because it is a manual transmission with the clutch activated electrically/ no pedal and can shift by itself, tap the gearshift up or down or use the paddle shifters on the leather steering wheel like a Formula One race car. The car is a blast to drive, and with the top down, nothing feels better. Now that the Smart is sold in the US, any Smart dealer can service this Smart and when I have brought the car in NYC to the Mercedes/Smart dealer, everyone comments on this Smart on how great it looks. This car is one of a kind but I am selling my homes and have no room for my toy! Purchase price fully optioned was $30K CDN and with the accessories I have added on it is a terrific value. My only negative feedback was a previous listing withdrawal on this car because my home sale feel through and the car was registered in Canada and did not fully research how the car could be registered here.
