It is an excellent candidate for a complete restoration as it is complete and solid. The body is very straight for its year with only a few minor dings. There is a small dent just behind the passenger side front turn signal and a small dent on the rear just above the bumper on the passengers side. There is some very minimal rust just behind the front marker lights which is very typical of this model. There is some minor surface rust just under a few pieces of the chrome trim. The drivers side wheel well is clean and has the original paint. The passenger side does show some rust but it is not rusted through. The dash does have one crack just above the odometer to the right. This particular Volvo was purchased by a couple that took delivery of it in Sweden at the factory. It spent its entire life in the Washington/Idaho area until I purchased it. There is an overseas factory delivery tag on the rear panel of the vehicle just next to the tail light and the owners manual also reflects the fact that it was factory delivered. The same couple owned it for many years until it passed a few hands until I ended up buying it. I had every intention of restoring this beauty but I am in the middle of a home renovation and I just cannot devote any time to it. If you know these cars you know their quirks. It runs and does not have any known mechanical issues. The engine runs a little rich at the moment which needs a little tinkering. The transmission shifts smooth in all gears. The shocks feel a little soft and could probably use new ones. The original A/C components are there but I have never tested it to see if it runs properly. The only other known issue is that the drivers side power window does not operate. The rear windows are manually operated, a feature unique to this year of the 164E. The paint is faded in places and showing some oxidation. The headliner is clean and in very good condition. The carpet is in good condition but could use a mild cleaning. The leather seats are actually in excellent restorable condition with just some minor thread pulling and discoloring. There is a product called Leathertique which would restore these seats like new, soft and supple again and you could redye them with their dye and it would save you thousands on a reupholstering job. The door panels are beautiful and untouched without gapping holes for speakers cut into them. There is a door bezel missing from the drivers side door on the inside panel. The trunk is clean with the full sized spare in the boot. The ORIGINAL Volvo AM/FM radio is present and functioning properly. The odometer shows under 150,000 miles and as far as I know this is accurate but since this car is over 35 years old it is being sold as an exempt status. When I purchased the vehicle I was told this was the accurate mileage. I am selling this for less than I have into it so please do not send me any lowball offers. I paid $1750 for it several months ago and then another $750 for transport. The title is clear with no issues. Best offers will be considered but lowball offers will be automatically rejected. I WILL DELIVER this vehicle anywhere between Oklahoma City, OK and Tucson, AZ as long as it is not too far off the beaten path for a delivery fee of $1 per mile with a minimum charge of $395 (the car carrier alone will probably run close to $200). Any deliver fees must be paid in advance. If you are unsure of the route, please check mapquest. Any destination within 50 miles of the main route would be acceptable. Any destinations other than this area will be considered but mileage would be calculated at a round trip route. If you are local and want to view and drive the car, it is available for inspection. The underbody looks straight and solid with no serious rust issues that I can see. There are no oil leaks present. It is parked in a carport and it has been started and driven weekly to keep the fluids flowing and I have not seen any leakage on the pavement at all. PLEASE NOTE: I have owned many of these 164's models and it is my opinion that this one is very straight and solid and very well priced. It is also my opinion that unless you are a skilled mechanic with these older Volvo's that I would not recommending driving it until it has been fully inspected. I have not had enough time to drive it long distances to make any assumptions on its roadworthiness but I personally feel it would need a complete tune up, filters, belts, etc checked. I do believe this car has many years left in it and I also believe it would take minimal maintenance to get it up to full performance.
