Vehicle Detail
1941 PLYMOUTH P-11 Business Coupe. I am moving across country and will be unable to take my PLYMOUTH with me. My loss will be somebody’s gain. The car is all original. I have not modernized it in any way. It maintains its original 209 6 cylinder motor which I had completely rebuilt by a local shop soon after buying the car. I have gone through most all of the mechanical systems to make the car a dependable daily driver. In addition to the motor rebuild I had the u-joints on the drive shaft rebuilt, brakes, changed all gear lube in tranny and rear end, radiator flush, starter/generator rebuild, water pump, new coil, shocks, rebuilt distributor, all new tubes in tires, new fan belt, all hoses and more. The car is still six volt and has a brand new battery. Everything on the car works. All gauges, speedometer, lights, windshield wiper, deluxe heater/defroster etc. I modified the parking lites to be the front signal lights so the car has turn signals for added safety. All the glass is good with no breaks, cracks, or fogging. The interior looks to have been replaced sometime in the past with a mohair style fabric and is very nice. Headliner must have been replaced at the same time as it looks perfect. The mileage of 43,747 is actual and I believe its correct. The body on the car and frame is super solid. I purchased the car from an elderly gentleman in southern Missouri about seven years ago. There is no major rust; but the car could use a good paint job. It presents very well as is but I would say its about a “twenty footer”. From about 20 feet away the paint looks really nice; as you get closer you can see some age here and there. My goal was to get all the mechanical work done first then paint the car and have the bumpers re-chromed. The mechanical work is done. It is presentable as is; but a new paint job would be nice I think. The car runs and drives exceptionally well. The front end and steering gear are very tight and the car goes down the road straight as an arrow. It starts the first time you kick the starter button on the floor every time, hot or cold. It has never over heated even in the heat of summer. It really is a very dependable old car. There are a lot of NOS and remanufactured parts available for these cars so getting spare parts has never been a problem for me. PLYMOUTH was way ahead of FORD and CHEVROLET during this time period. All modern style tube shocks, open drive shaft (no torq tube) modern style independent floating front end, and that bullet proof flat head fully pressurized 6 cylinder motor. The car cruises beautifully at 60-65 all day long and rides like a caddie ! The white wall tires are very good shape and I had all the wheels balanced. If you want more info or pictures email me at jverville@gmail.com I would encourage anyone interested in the car to come see it in person and take it for a test drive. The car has a clear title. Fly in and drive it home !
