Vehicle Detail
SUPER NICE DRIVE AWAY MR-2. Why is this a parts car? Here's the story. I have a clear Illinois title for the vehicle as an 87. I have it licensed and have been driving it for several years. The coach is an 89 with t-top , 5 speed. I bought this car as a salvage vehicle from the mechanic who rescued it from an abandonment yard in Janesville Wisconsin. I have those documents as well. The engine had blown and it was left on Interstate 90 by the owners. Originally from Indiana, I tried to unsuccessfully get the Indiana title transferred. The reason? The couple who jointly owned the vehicle got divorced and disappeared. I tracked them both on the internet but could get no response from either of them or the bank they used. So, I bought an 87 with a newer motor but bad body, and we put the 87 engine and components into the car. It runs beautifully, and in fact has the nicest hiway manners and ride of any MR2 I have owned, and this will be my 3rd. So waht i have is a very good little 2, with a great motor, newer brakes, perfect handling and good looking body. BUT. I am an honest an open e-bayer, and I am giving full disclosure of the car history and the title. When i took it to the Illinois DMV I explained the situation and agent said that as long as the title i had was clear, and the parts from the titled car were in use, it would get clear title. Which it has. I have moved all the id tags to the newer body so that thsoe also match the title. So, your choice..daily driver, parts car, SCCA racer, Autocrosser?? You decide. Here's the rest of the specs on the car: T-tops are intact and have the insert liners and the covers for storage and carriage. The locks on both of them work and they do not leak,or at least they didn't when I stored it last fall. IT has THE ORIGINAL RADIO and it works. It has a flawless interior in blue cloth. No tears, no cracks.no stains. All the inside storage cubbies and holders are here. The seat features all work. The air conditioning has been removed. It has an oversized air cleaner and newer battery. It has a SuperTrapp tuned exhaust. It has the beginnings of the classic MR2 rot in the lower rear fenders, but it is not advanced. I have never drivein in winter, but this stuff happens. It has all of the ground effects and trim. It has the clear TOYOTA sunshade for the rear window. it has the very rare rear wing with brake light insert. It has limited edition wheels. The tires are good enough to drive anywhere, but for safety sake, I would advise new ones soon. Good tread, dry sidewalls. I only put about 3000 miles a year on the car and it's tires are getting crinkly. The motor, according to the Mechanic, only has about 50K on it, but I have now way of proving that to you. It runs very strong and jumpy. It has electric windows and electric mirrors. The drivers side door mirror has a crack. The drivers windoe makes a clicking noise but goes up and down as designed. Passenger door, no issues. There is a slight crease that is on the drivers door down below the trim line, visible in the pictures. The paint is pretty good, but is not flawless and it has a couple of surface spots that I have treated but not gone into full repair and re-spray on. The car was originally rustproofed with WAX-OYL if you know what that is. It has a new Bra kit included that has less than 300 miles on it, I took this off of my 86 MR2 when I sold it some years ago.It has the mini spare in new condition with all road tools. Wipers and squirters work, Electric Headlamps work with ease. Trunk and rear boot are clean and rust free. I have extra half shafts and fuel rails and other parts of value that came from the other car in this hybridization project. I have the manuals you will need and want. I have extra high intensity light bulbs for the headlamps that are new. So why am I selling? I am a 55 year old who likes little cars and driving in contact with the road. That is why I have had several MR2's. I also have a Vintage Triumph that needs my attention, and as far as my wife is concerned, is the next focus. So..in all fairness, I have opted to sell the MR2 and get on to that project...and if you work on little cars, you will know that 55 is getting tough to bend and stretch and get into the tight spots. It's time to get rocking on the other project. So..if you want a wonderful little car that is a riot to drive, and will get 35 MPG and run like a Toyota does...this could be the answer. Or, turn it into a racer, or part it out. If I do not get the min price that I think is fair, then I will begin to part it out. I love the interior and it will fit right into my triumph..so it won't break my heart. YOu can look at my E-bay rating and it is flawless. I don't like getting twinked around and I offer good deals that will make my buyers happy. So, please, do not bid or jerk me around if you don't want this car or you think you can negotiate around it. I know what the car is worth, I know what the parts are worth, I know a good deal, and this is one. It's just a matter of how you want to regard the car...parts, or driver..your choice. I have the vehicle for sale locally so may end the auction at anytime. I have a very low reserve. I expect a 250 dollar deposit within 48 hours of the auction end with Paypal. The balance is due within 7 days of the end of the auction and I prefer cash or certified Bank check, but may work arrangements with Paypal if we treat each other nice. The car will be considered yours if you win. I will hold to contract on the purchase of this vehicle. Previous problem bidders, I reserve the right to dismiss your bids. The car can be picked up or driven away within 1 minute of full payment being recieved. I will provide all legal title, bills of sale and paperwork for your processing. CAr is in the Rockford Illinois area, and I will drop it off for you if paid for in full within 100 miles of this location for a 25 dollar flat fee and 10 bucks for gas. Good luck...I hope you are the lucky winner of this Toyota.
