Vehicle Detail
1973 Triumph TR7RV Tiger 750. 5,398 Original Miles. Clear MA Title. Serial Number TR7RVDH29889. Manufactured April 1973 Meriden, England. Comes with TOMCC Certificate of Authenticity. Worldwide production was 6,234 units, and fortunately around 5000 units shipped to the American Market, allowing this one to survive. This is machine is being sold as a non-running project. It has been in heated storage for many years since it was taken off the road in running condition. The bike’s status: The left turn signal doesn’t want to work and the buyer should refresh the front brake hoses. The front brake light switch needs to be cleaned to restore electrical contact. The Good News: It is a two owner example that is unrestored and very streetable. It features a stock 230 Main Jet with factory exhaust. When last on the road it had: proper ignition timing, proper valve adjustment along with a professionally rebuilt Amal 930 carburetor aided by sintered brass fuel filters, this Tiger 750 performed well with very good starting, idling and throttle response. The primary has been completely cleaned, inspected and refitted with new Barnett friction and pressure plates, new bronze thrust washer, tri-plex chain and stator grommet to keep things oil tight, not to mention new clutch rubber inserts. It also boasts a new 20 Tooth Compensation Sprocket and Inner Primary Seals with new 530 roller chain to help reduce revs at highway speeds. The master cylinder is rebuilt and the Lockheed front caliper has been disassembled with dual pistons cleaned, polished and refitted. The machine was slated for a cosmetic restoration, but was mechanically solid and had been a delight to ride, pulling strong with no hesitation and has a slick shifting five speed gear box that functions like the day it was delivered. The seat was disassembled and the seat cover was shipped to RK Leighton in England to be used as a pattern. RK Leighton is the only supplier with the correct pattern unique to the 1973 models. It is pictured in the listing ready to be assembled. The motorcycle also features a later T140 seat that can be used as an option. Also note the original side covers, while ‘correct fitment’ for this model year, they suffer effects of plastic over time, so a set of proper aluminum cast covers, that don’t leak air are included with the listing. When the second owner traded in the machine to Don Hutching Cycle, during the servicing process, the front wheel had been damaged and replaced with an aftermarket rim. An NOS Dunlop WM-2 rim is included in the listing for re-lacing if so desired. Also, the original blue and white tank was dented, so a clean, original-paint 1976 Tiger tank with a clear coat was fitted onto the machine. Like all the TR7RVs they are unique because of low production, single carburetor set up for ease of maintenance and superior torque characteristics over the evergreen Bonneville. The 1973 Model Year is the first year to have the Full Front Fender with traditional top mounting brackets, Conical Hub Rear Wheel set up with the Lockheed Front Disc brake combination. Not only esthetically pleasing, this configuration is up to the task of managing the Tiger’s attractive power-to-weight ratio with very reliable stopping power. It should be noted that this model is 30 pounds lighter than subsequent Tiger 750 models. As this machine is a later production model year 1973 TR7RV it features the desirable and sturdy Ten Bolt Cylinder Head with (higher) 8.5:1 compression and true 744cc displacement along with a modern five speed gear box. As luck would have it, this particular engine benefits from an unusually well balanced flywheel and would run more smoothly than some other Triumph 750’s. If you are considering an unrestored 1973 Tiger with the majority of its stock equipment, this may be worth a look. Bid with confidence as what-you-see-is-what-you-get. Any questions, call Steve at 781-254-6634. A $200.00 non-refundable PayPal deposit is required upon winning bid. Balance of funds will be Bank Wire Transferred within 3 days of winning bid upon which time the MA Title will be sent to buyer and motorcycle will be released to transport company or buyer/agent.
